Model Reviewed: Calloway FT-5
Summary: I recently purchased the FT-5 8.5 degree driver with a pro launch extra stiff shaft. I was using a R-7 previously to this driver. I hit in the 300 - 310 range with the R-7. I have a swing speed in the high 120's. The FT-5 has added additional 35-40 yards on average to my drive. Best driver I have hit.

Model Reviewed: callaway ft-5 tour 8.5
Summary: Just recieved my club in the mail yesterday and went to the driving range first thing and hit two large buckets. I purchased this club off ebay for about $250. I got the 8.5 with the Diamana blue board extra stiff shaft. I have a swing speed of 114 and ball speed of 160ish and my good drives are usually around 280-300. I went and got fitted at the local golf galaxy and they fitted me for a 10 degree non tour version with the same shaft. I have a pretty low ball flight which I like and I am pretty stubborn and refuse to go with anything over 9.5 degrees. So I was pretty much going to that fitting just to check out the different shafts available and what flex i should get. Well that blue board was pretty much the best feeling shaft that I have ever hit. So I went straight home and found a club on ebay. Along with my low ball flight I also fight a hook. Well the hook is gone now. I learned on the range yesterday that if I tee the ball up higher than normal and try to swing up and out on the ball, it flies high and straight. Get a little lazy with this baby though, and you find yourself in slice city. But I am confident that on the course where I am only hitting it 14 times max, instead of the 80-90 times I hit it yesterday, I won't get so lazy with it. I am hoping that this club works out for me because I love the way it looks at set up (a lot less bulky than the Sumo that I have been playing) and the sound is sweet. We'll see. Glad I found it on ebay because even though the price was recently dropped to $299, that is with the stock shaft. I think the shaft that I got is about a 200 dollar upgrade. Check it out though if you're looking for a new driver.
Customer Service: Haven't dealt with them although I have heard Callaway's CS is pretty good.

Model Reviewed: Callaway FT-5 Tour 10.5 neutral R flex
Summary: Traded a Hyper X Tour for the FT-5 and today went back to the Hyper X. The flight of the FT-5 with the stock Fujikura E360 regular flex shaft was not a very good combination for me. Lost about 10-15 yards as compared to the Hyper X with a YS-6 Reg. The fuji shaft felt to tip stiff though the ball flight was typically one that balloned than dropped with little roll. Overall the FT-5 was hard for me to find during the swing and even with neutral weighting and a .5 degree open face it wanted to hook. A miss hit on the toe of the FT-5 is severely punished in distance and direction. Also anything hit low on the face will be extremely low off the tee. I can not be sure I ever really hit or found the sweet spot on the face. What I thought felt perfectly struck was still short of even a marginal drive hit with the Hyper X. I think the problem was the shaft, but with the driver costing $450.00 and any other shaft having an upcharge of at least $70.00 I'll stick with the Hyper X Tour. It also had an upcharge of $50.00 for the YS-6. Callaway brags about its fitting system, so why charge for a shaft the customer knows works for them. Titleist offers a bunch of shafts, some $200.00 just for the shaft, and it doesn't charge for them. Callaway maybe on to something with their technology but they need to give their customer more choices so the technology will fit them. And $450.00 is a lot of money to spend for a driver already over one year old.
Customer Service: Customer service should be about offering customers choices, not repairing something that should not have broken to begin with. Callaway gives you a choice, but the wrong ones. Spend a lot of cash for what we have, or spend even more for what you want or need.

Summary: Another Callaway disappointment. I've purchased 3 or more different Callaway drivers since the VFT driver I purchased 7 years ago. I got it with the E360 stiff shaft. My drives were less in distance then the following Titleist 905T, TM R7 Quad HT, Cobra SS380 and F Speed, and Mizuno . Also with the FT-5 I was slicing it 50% of the time. I still have my VFT 3,5, & 7 and a Steelhead 7 which are great clubs. Unfortunately I have not had any success with the last 4 or 5 versions of the Callaway drivers. My Callaway VFT driver was better then the FT5 for me. I gave that club away.

Summary: i just bought this club and am totally happy with it. Forgiveness, length and feel, it is the total package. I have a very fast swing speed so I have the stiff shaft and can hit it 330+ down the middle...now if it could only help my short game.?!
