talyormade superquad 9.5

Summary:
I have used every driver on the market (no joke) and i have always turned back to old faithful. I have no problem hitting a draw or fade and i hit it in the fairway about 290-300 about everytime. I just got another superquad since my last one had a dent on the crown, and its going to take a spectacular driver to make me change.

r7 superquad

Summary:
I bought this driver shortly after TaylorMade's next line came out and thus was able to get it at considerably less than the original $400 that it listed. Whatever the cost, I am very happy with the club.

As other reviewers have said, I do think the proper shaft makes a difference. I had played my brother's R7 quad before and came away unimpressed, but then I was fitted at my local shop and found out the regular shaft I was using on his driver was too flexible for me. So I bought the R7 Superquad 9.5 degree with the stock ReAx 65 gm shaft, stiff flex, with the medium kickpoint (as opposed to the medium/high kickpoint on the other one). The important thing, though, is that I hit all of the TaylorMade drivers before coming away with this one.

I like several things about this club. First, it sets up well to the eye with the cool all-black finish and a clubhead that looks much more compact than its 460cc. The CGB and Tour Burner looked like toasters on a stick by comparison. Also, the club has a decent weight and allowed me to have pretty good feel for the clubhead. Of course, the weights are the best thing, because this is by far the most customizable driver out there, notwithstanding the ones with interchangeable heads. The weights did make a difference for me. I tend to draw the ball empirically, so all I did was move the weights to hit it high or low. I was surprised how effectively moving the weights into the "low" configuration changed my trajectory. It made playing in high winds much, much easier.

The TaylorMade website claims about 28 yards or so in distance variation depending on how the weights are configured, and that seemed accurate in my hands. I hit big sweeping hooks with the weights in heavy draw setting, and blocked just about everything right with the more fade setting. Now I've settled into the stock neutral configuration.

The one disappointment I have in the club is that the sound off the ball, even right in the sweet spot, is nothing more than a dull, uninspiring thud. I don't get the sharp crack that I did with other drivers I've owned. That being said, I can't complain about hitting more fairways than ever with no loss of distance - 260 to 280.

I'd recommend this driver to, well, anyone. The weights allow for such customization that anyone from the scratch golfer to the weekend banana-ball hacker can set it up to suit their own swing and ball flight.

R7 SuperQuad

Summary:
To all you chaps out there complaining bout this baby, take note.
You have to have the correct shaft and weight setting for your swing. It's no use bashing an excellent product when you have the incorrect setup in to begin with.

For starters, i have been playing for 2 years now and have brought my handicap down to single figures. Secondly i am a Mizuno Disciple.
So when my Mp560 packed up, I went driver hunting and came across this beauty.

I had my V2 Extra Stiff shaft taken from my Mizuo and fitted to to the R7 SQ and WOW!!!! I used to average around 280 meters with my Mizuno, but now I average around 310 to 320 meters (Not Yards) with this baby.

It all comes down to the fit. So if you feel the shaft is too whippy and you get no real distance and consistency, then change the shaft. Most people, even mid to high handicappers with moderate swing speeds will benefit from having a stiffer shaft in their driver than their irons. So go do your homework before bashing a great product.

Just bought an R7 SQ 10.5 loft with a regular flex shaft. I am very dissappointed with this club. the wiehts are set to max draw, i do hit it straight but only getting about 250 yards on my drives im going to but a stiff shaft in it and see if there is any differance if not back to my 454 big bertha. would not reccommend this club

R7 SUPERQUAD

Summary:
I have played with the old R7 Quad for several years. I got an R7 425 TP a couple years ago to replace the Quad but hated it. I went back to the old R7 Quad. I hit the old R7 Quad about 280 with the occasional 300+ drive (draw tendancy) I was messing around at Dicks Sporting Goods one day and was hitting the TM Burner and the SuperQuad. To my disbelief, I was launching the SuperQuad like 290 carry and 325 roll. It was on sale so I said what the heck..Im buying this. The first time I hit the SuperQuad on the course was Saturday morning with my single digit handicap buddies. After I hit about three drives 320+ I was a believer and my buddies were over looking in my bag. (mainly beacuse they were 50 yds behind me - ha) This is an awesome club - same feel as old R7 Quad, same control, quite a bit longer. Sergio should have this in his bag instead of that Burner.LOL
