Orlimar hipSteel 15* & 18*

Summary:
Great woods. Great price. Does anyone know what the offset is on these woods. Next season I will only be using the 15* due to adding another wedge in the bag but will not be replacing this until I get enough money. Only complaint is the offset. I would prefer a square face but at the time I bought these I wasn't really a technology guy.

Summary:
I received this club as a hand me down from my father. The 12 degrees of loft and shaft specs did not work for him from the rough. Well, you know what they say...one man's trash is another man's treasure, and this club in my opinion is a real jewel.

I utilize the club from many lies with great results, although the 12 degree loft is best suited for manicured lies and for tee shots. This club is a terrific secondary driver as the penetrating flight is effective even into the teeth of medium strength breezes.

I find overall distance to be excellent with tee shot average distance around 245-265 and fairway distance to be 225-255 on a solid strike. The feel of the strike is super solid and the head feels like it can handle an agressive pass at the ball. I find the understated "ping" to be pleasing...definately not the loud pinging that you find with some of the larger headed models put out recently.

The 12 degree may be a low loft for high handicappers, but with a solid swing the low trajectory and long distance is something that may fill a gap in the mid to low handicappers bag. Think of it like a 2-wood, this club makes all but the longest par 5's potential 2-shotters!

Visually, the simple lines of the Black clubhead are understated and thankfully the club does not look like it came out of a Star Trek episode.

Try the HipSteel 12 degree if you can find one, you may be pleasantly suprised with the results!

Orlimar Trimetal HIPSteel 16* & 20*

Summary:
I got the 16* and 20* on eBay for cheap about a year ago after reading about them on here. I got them for under $60 each and have been the best band for the buck. The 20* is my favorite club in the bag and the 16* is basically my driver since my driver is so inconsistent. I can hit these off the tee, fairway and they shine from the short rough. Last week I even knocked it on the green from about 225 in the rough with my 20*, it cuts right through the rough, as long as it isn't too bad.

The shallow face did take a while to get used to and I hit a few sky balls off a tee at first, I even though it was a mistake to get these clubs, but after a year of use I love these things. I am even able to work the ball a little bit, something I never even thought about doing.

I bet you could find these on ebay for under $40 now, best bang for the buck out there.

some old Cougar 3 wood that I loved until i snapped the hossel. I also used some Adams tight lies that I would hit good one week and hit crappy the next. I just got a Taylor Made r5 3 wood, but might return it and stick with my Olimar 16*

Orlimar Hipsteel fairway woods

Summary:
I have the 14 and 18deg woods. I find these woods extremely easy to hit and have a great solid feel to them. The only thing I would change is I wish I had a stiff shaft in the 14deg and regular flex in the 18deg instead of the other way around as I have them know. But I picked them up cheap so I can't complain.

The weight in my Orlimar driver fell out and I called them and they mailed me another weight that I put in.

Orlimar HiP Steel 20* & 16*

Summary:
I've had the little chili pepper weight fall out of my 16* two times now. I think there's a good reason why you can get these for a couple of bucks now.

I've had them for a year now, but I never use them becuase I just can't stop flubbing shots with these (Yeah, obviously it's me who has the problem and not the club). They do sound really awesome when well struck.

I would say skip the graphite and go with the Precision stock shaft if you have a choice. The 20* has a steel shaft and is much easier to hit than the whippy (stiff) graphite in the 16*.

I don't want to piss off all the people here who love these Orlimar clubs, but there are much better fairway woods out there (even for the low price). Don't just buy these because they've gotten good reviews and they're cheap.

Customer Service:
Orlimar was great about sending a new weight out to me free of charge the first time. Never heard from them the second time.
