Ben Hogan AHS Hybrid Set

Summary:
I struggle with inconsistent iron play, especially mid and long irons. After reading other reviews I decided to take a chance on these clubs. After just one session at the driving range I was very encouraged. These clubs make it very easy to make solid ball contact. I've played 3 rounds so far and find I'm hitting all of these clubs longer than comparable irons. Accuracy is good, too, once you adjust to the extra distance. I don't care for the sand wedge, but I highly recommend the set to anyone that struggle with irons. With these clubs and some practice, I cut my average score from 102 to 95 in less than a month. These clubs combined with praticing an improved swing tempo have made a major improvement to my game.

Customer Service:
Like other reviewers, I purchased the set at Edwin Watts. Paid $300. Only retail store I could find offering these clubs. Sales person didn't offer much advice except to say how could I go wrong for the price - I agree.

Ben Hogan AHS Hybird Irons Set

Summary:
I'm a golfer in Tampa, FL. I purchased this set of graphite hybrid irons several months ago and I couldn't be happier! Extremely pleased with the way they have helped my game. From the first time out on the practice range, the Hogan AHS Hybrids felt right, although it did take some getting used to the hybrid look of a PW & SW. Set came with 4 thru SW (eight clubs). Great feel to them. They are very forgiving and have largely corrected a slice I had struggled with. Have gone from shooting in the mid-100s to the mid-90s (that's about 10 strokes!)in just six or seven sessions at the driving range and three roudns of golf. And I can do even better! I repeat -- they have great feel and did I mention that they are forgiving?

An added bonus is the club versatility the set provides. Do I even need to tote around a 5-wood anymore? Also have gained more yardage per club (previously the 5-iron would give me 150 yards. Now my 5-hybird iron gets me 160-165 yards+) not too mention better accuracy as well. What else could a golfer want?

I purchased these at Edwin Watts for less than $300 and feel they are a great value or would be even at twice the price. Oddly, neither Watts nor Ben Hogan or even Calloway (the company that currently owns Ben Hogan)can provide any ifo on the clubs -- as if they are some great mystery. I suspect they won't be on the shelves much longer.

My advise is -- if you the Hogan AHS Hybrid irons and you think they may appeal to you -- try demoing them and if you like 'em -- buy 'em. As far as I'm concerned, they are simply terrific.

And no, I'm not some old geezer. I'm a 51-year-old golfer who had been away from the game for a while and simply wanted to improve my game. With a swing speed in the mid 80s to low 90s, and a high handicap game, these Ben Hogan AHS Hybrids were just the tonic for my ailing golf game. Now I'll probably be sport fencing less and golfing more.

The bottom line: The Hogan AHS Hybrid Irons are a great value, they feel great, are very forgiving, have increased my yardage and accuracy and diminished -- if not vanquished my slice. I love them! What else can I say? Now if I can just improve on my putting....

Customer Service:
I purchased this product at Edwin Watts. Though the staff was knowledgeable about hybrids, etc., they could not tell me much about the Hogan AHSs. Not a lot on the Internet either. Not much on the Ben Hogan website. I then called Calloway (parent campany of Hogan) on the telephone and they were sketchy, if not hesitant to give any info on this product. Although they did (in a veiled way) confirm that Calloway had ceased production of the Hogan line, they would neither confirm nor deny that they would continue production of Hogan products in the near future -- if at all. If so, that's a shame. Good luck in trying to get info on this product from either Watts, Hogan or Calloway.

Summary:
All I can say is WOW.
Great clubs at an even better price. In my opinion, anyone shooting around 90 should quit kidding themselves and be in a set like this.
15 yards longer per club. Great shafts. I admit, a full hybrid pw took a round or two to get used to, but once I trusted it, there is less of a difference than you might expect.
Also, the versatility allows me to carry fewer clubs and have fewer confusing choices during the round.
It took a little used to showing up with a bag full of hybrids and feeling like a hack, but it felt just a good beating the so called "players" and watching them lose to a guy with a bag full of hybrids.
The SW performs great - has all the benefits of a hybrid on the bottom with the look of a traditional wedge at address.

Customer Service:
Interesting...Edwin Watts was great, but NO ONE - including Hogan/Callaway customer service reps acknmowledge when or where these came from. Try calling them and see for yourself. Absolutlely no mention on the Hogan website anywhere. They should be more proud of their work on these!

Summary:
Had been looking for some of the BH-5 irons at Edwin Watts and ran across these on sale. So far have htree rounds wiht them and they are great. Picked up 20 yards per club over my Cleveland Launchers. These clubs are great for folks who sweep the ball. Getting used to chipping with the PW and SW hybrids was a bit of a challenge but overall distance and accuracy increased measurably. I was afraid the trajectory would be too high but it wasn't, get a mid high trajectory with the mid irons and short irons that works great and holds greens well.
