Over the last few years, I have played primarily one brand of clubs. That brand has been Cleveland. My first pro-line forged set of irons were Cleveland ta-2s. Fantastic set of irons and I played them for many years. I eventually bettered my game to upgrade from those to a set of Cleveland cg1s. They were a fine set no complaints. As far as muscleback irons go, they were very forgiving. To my knowledge they were not forged like the Ta2s but they didn't feel at all different. I did not stop at the the Cleveland brand at the irons. I had a Launcher driver, hibore xl 3 wood, and launcher 5 wood. So all in all very pleased with my Cleveland war clubs .

However, there was something about Macgregor that fascinated me. It was one of the oldest if not the oldest name in golf dating back to the very late1800s. Legends of game played Macgregor. Legends like Hogan, Lord Byron, Nicklaus, Crenshaw, and Olazabal to just name a few. Jack Nicklaus in fact co-designed the famous VIP iron that he used. So Macgregor has a name in golf unlike any other.

I gradually began the move toward the Macgregor arsenal. I started off with a Macgregor Hoylake putter. I have played with many top brand putters and own many of them, but the Hoylake is the best putter I've ever used and will continue to do so for a very long time. Next, I got a pair of Tourney wedges that were great wedges in their own right. Next was a Macgregor Mactec NVG2 Tour driver. Words cannot express how much I love that driver. Solid but a soft feel to it. Long but controllable. Next was a Macgregor 3 wood from the 2014 Tourney line at Golfsmith. Even though it is not the same company it once was before Golfsmith bought it out, that doesn't mean they don't make some quality products. The putter and wedges I used were made by the Golfsmith-Macgregor affiliation and they were fantastic. This 3 wood is by far one of the most impressive fairway woods I have ever hit. Before I bought it I tried it on the launch monitor at Golfsmith. The result was multiple hits going well over 260 yards and one even going 280. I was sold. And that is when I was becoming interested in the irons. From what I heard Macgregor was always known for their woods but I was curious about their irons. Every review I read of their newer line of irons made before they sold out to Golfsmith was that they were a solid forged club. So I began the hunt and found these irons at a hole-in-the-wall store in my town.

Now let me say first off that the aesthetics of these clubs are striking. No pun. But the gold and chrome contrast is really beautiful on this set of irons. The first time I hit them I was a little depressed. I couldn't hit a solid shot to save my life. I had been playing with muscle back irons for the past year so I was distraught that I couldn't hit a cavity back iron. Then I started to get my timing and began to strike them better and better. The feel when struck pure is indescribable. It has a powerful, soft, yet crisp feeling when these clubs strike a pure hit. My set is a 3-sw with Macgregor-Rifle 6.0 shafts. The 3-6 iron are a cavity back iron, while the 6-sw are pure blade muscle backs. The shafts were a tad stiffer than what I was used to in my Dynamic Gold S300s, but a nice shaft all the same. If you have a chance to purchase a set of these irons then please do yourself a favor and do so. You are not just buying a stellar set of clubs. You are purchasing a set of irons whose name is rich in history and quality craftsmanship. I am still getting used to them and will continue to improve, but I am very excited for my golf game in the years to come.

Searching through EBAY and found a U.S seller selling left handed heads for this model "brand new". Bought the heads 2 to SW and made them my project. Had them fitted with Project X 5.5 shafts, new grips, looked a million dollars. Beautiful looking irons. Played with them for 3 months and was just disappointed, mainly my fault, these irons have a large progressive off-set through the set and I have never felt comfortable hitting off set irons, doesn't suit my eye at all. What a shame, well struck shots are pure joy, miss hits are horrendous. Will be putting them on ebay shortly.

I just purchased a set of MacGregor VIP 1025C 2-PW with the matching 1025 Muscle Back Wedges Gap, Sand, and Lob wedge. I purchased them off ebay ALL BRAND NEW! Paid top dollar however they are custom made and fitted by a guy who worked at MacGregor who got some of the left over stock when they shut down. I love the look of these clubs and always have. The diamonds along side the groves on the face with the diamond ferrels on the hosel couldn't look better. I love the gold paint and the VIP crown cavity decal. Beautiful design. Cannot wait to hit these!!!
I got custom fitted with KBS CTaper low trajectory shafts, midsize grips, and each club is set for my heigh (tall).
I average in the low to mid 70's and hope these help me dial in better.
I had titleist ap2 712s and they were garbage. My mizunos i had the previous year were much better and alot like these macgregors. I have had plenty of titleist sets before I was happy with but none like the mizunos, I was going to buy the MP59s but couldn't resist getting these brand new macgregors. Hopefully I am the only one I ever see with the full 2-LW set. MUST GOLF! TOO MUCH SNOW IN CANADA!!!

I have had sets of the 1025c or 1025cm 3 or 4 times over the past 10 years. I will try other irons, but I always end up going back to these. As nice a forged iron as you can get. Solid feel and enough forgiveness. Great for working the ball.

OK, I am convinced these are the best set of irons I have ever played, and it's October 2012!! These are from 2001? 2002? I grabbed my current set last year off craigslist for 65 bucks. 3-SW. Started using them late in 2011 and really loved them...the feel, distance, workability. For some reason when 2012 came around, I starting buying used irons sets with more forgiveness...to get the year started, at least. Realizing now that I've come full circle back to my Macgregors that this was a stupid decision. These are forgiving, but they provide the unmatched feel and control of forged clubs. After trying multiple sets of irons this year (Ping G2, Wilson Staff Di11, Nike VR Pro Cavity, Callaway X-14 and X-14 Pro Series, Cobra FPs), I am so convinced the Macgregor VIP Tourney 1025Cs are the best of the lot, I am adding a backup set I won on ebay last week for when my current set wears out! The new set includes a "like new" 2 iron I can't wait to rip. I hit my current 3 iron pure most times and there is nothing like it. If you are curious as to whether you can handle forged or not, start with this set of very affordable (they are a steal compared to other irons out there) Macgregors and enjoy the ride. The bit of offset and cavity will enable a mid capper to experience the sweet forged iron game like never before. Trust me on this.

These are my first set or "real" irons. These things hit like butter. I don't think I'll get another set. They've been good to me on the course.

I bought these irons on ebay a few weeks ago for $150. They couldn't be more worth it. I've been golfing for 20 years and shoot in the low 80s. Over the years I've played with many different irons, from Ping Zings and Ping Eye 2s to Titleist DCI 962s, Callaway X-16s and Mizuno MP-30s. In a nutshell, the MacGregor V-Foils are the best clubs I've ever hit. They're solid, perfectly weighted and insanely forgiving for a forged club. The perimeter weighting on these clubs makes it so easy to launch the ball on line you'll think you're ready to make a run at the club championship.
Immediately prior to getting the MacGregors, I played with the Mizuno MP-30s. While a nice club, they didn't provide me nearly the distance of the V-Foils. My MP-30 7-iron was going 150 yards, while I was lucky to get 170 out of the 5-iron. Simply, I thought there was something wrong with my swing. But since buying the MacGregors I've discovered there is nothing wrong with my swing: My V-Foil 9-iron goes 150; the 7-iron goes 170, and the 5-iron goes 200, all on a consistent basis.
Anyway, suffice to say, the V-Foil 1025Cs are GREAT clubs, at least in my opinion. I imagine I'll be playing them for years.

A quality set of forgings with a classic look that purists enjoy. I read a review in a golf magazine which said that these clubs would be suitable for all handicap levels. Don't be fooled, whilst they are quite forgiving I would say they are better suited to low (10 or below) handicapers. The clubs offer superb feel and the smaller heads allow for shot shaping should you feel the urge to do so. Consistent ball strikers will love the feel of a well struck shot off of these clubs. Mine are fitted with the Precision Rifle 5.0 shafts. I tend to de-loft but the shafts enable me to float shots into the green with no trouble. The clubs look good, play very well and clean up like new after every round. A great buy if you can find them.

Never had the need to contact.

Second set of clubs are Mizuno MX23's. They are more forgiving and give half a club more of extra distance. However, they have a larger head and are not as easy to shape shots with. Still a good set of clubs though!

Forgiving does not go with forged, or so I was told. I wanted to try the feel of forged irons when my uncle decided it was time to go back to cast. So I inhereted the MacGregor 1025C's that he purchased. What an amazing experience. Shot shaping is a breeze, in any direction. Sweet spot hits feel like cutting through air, and off-center hits don't damage your hands nor do they cost you much in the way of yardage. These clubs are definitely low 2 mid cappers (repeatedly must hit close to center every time) but with their muscleback design allow a higher capper to work on their game without getting killed by their buddies on the course. The best thing about these clubs is that they clean up awesome. Wash them in the sink and I guarantee you every time they will make you think you got new irons all over again. A beautiful set that most people would not think about. They should.

Customer Service

Never needed them. I do all repairs on my own gear (and so far have not had to do a thing except change grips each season).
