Strata Pro Distance

Summary:
For those of you looking at the unfair reviews of this ball below by people expecting to find a high spinning super-soft ball, having played most of those and this ball as well, I can honestly say your review of this ball will come down to what you expect from it.

It is consistent, both in spin and distance.

It will spin exactly how much you expect it to when it leaves the clubface.

It will not spin back for any but people who overspin the ball. It likes to stop pretty close to where it lands on full swing approaches, and run a very predictable amount on chips and pitches. It will run on chips - even with 60* lob wedges, but not so much to keep you from giving yourself a chance when you short side the green.

It is straight. I've played it several times in windy conditions, and it holds its line pretty well.

It is firm. The feel on full swings is solid. Around the green, it is not soft, but is not exactly lively like a distance rock either. Touch shots can be executed with confidence.

Overall, it's pretty much what you'd expect. I've played a number of balls, and keep coming back to this one because it is durable and delivers the performance characteristics I desire.

Summary:
I have to agree with 'raymunn'; while this is a great straight distance ball the feel around the green is rock-like.

Am going to try the Strata Tour Professional which I am hoping will give a better balance of straight distance and feel.

Strata Pro Distance

Summary:
This year tried a number of different balls and my prefence is the Pro Distance. I'm not very consistant with my woods so I tend to use my 4 iron off the tee. Before playing this ball my drives where between 200 and 210. Now with this ball I'm going 220 to 225 with a 4 iron. Great Distance! I also find these balls to have pretty good feel around the greens. I plan on sticking with these balls for now.

Strata Professional Distance

Summary:
As I stated in an earlier review of the old model Strata Professional Distance, I was concerned about the changes Strata had made to the new model Professional Distance, so I went ahead and bought a dozen to see if the changes were going to prompt me to find a new ball to play. I can say right now that I will continue to use the Strata Professional Distance as my golf ball of choice.

Besides a logo change, the new ball also has a new dimple pattern. It seems to be the same pattern that is used on the Top-Flite XL3000 Super Longs that my wife sometimes uses. That's about the only comparison I can make between the two balls. The Strata is softer, puts better, and has a better sound off of the irons. It flies very straight off of the driver, but not quite as far as the Top Flite.

This is not a hard feeling distance ball. It feels firm, which is my feel of choice. I would imagine if you don't hit it off of the sweet spot consistently, it could feel hard as well as any ball could.

The new dimple pattern didn't seem to change the way the ball played. For my money, it's still the same fine ball it's been for years.

Strata Pro. Distance

Summary:
I was excited about trying this new ball from Strata. I have tried several other Strata models but never got the distance I was looking for out of them. With the Pro Distance, shots off tee and the irons are very long, and for a ROCK HARD Distance ball, it putts true. The feel off the putter and when chipping was terrible. I have to say that this ball is the hardest ball I have hit in years. It feels just like the older Top-Flite XL models of the early 90's. When hit, it sounds just like the old XLs too - a very high pitched click.

Surprisingly, the other reveiws of this ball I've seen are all positive. They have to be confusing this ball with the Strata Tour Professional.
