Summary: Have played this driver four rounds and love the results. Initially had a difficult time first round adjusting to size of 400cc head, previous head 275cc. Was driving average of 270-290 yards with previous stainless-steel head driver, now hitting 290-300 yards and havent hit the sweet spot really hard or consistent yet. I have hit 60% of fairways and only missed right on the first cut of ruff, dog-legs left mainly. The ball flight from this driver matches the ball flight of my other driver but is consistently less shaped, less spin and penetrates wind better. Drives fade slightly but I plan to switch to a stiff shaft. Already replaces my old driver and will most certasinly be my favorite with a stiff shaft.
Closest driver to this I have experience with is the Titleist 975j my Dad uses. Smaller head, similar distance and control but his shaft is a stiff flex and fits my swing speed better. Can't wait till I have a stiff shaft, watchout 320 yards here I come.

Summary: First I would like to say that I rarely feel strongly enough to write a review for any product. I just bought a Taylor Made R580 Stiff shaft on sale at Nevada Bob's for $199. They don't let you demo the driver, but will let you hit into a net.
I have been playing golf since I was 14 & having also played baseball, I've always been able to hit the ball far. I play at a local Country Club with my friends & have always hit the ball farther than my golf buddies. I had been using a Taylor Made Firesole 10.5 S shaft driver & consistenly hit it 250 to 300 yards. But not always straight. In the last 6 months my buddies have been hitting their drives at least as far as my drive & many times even farther. They all had recently purchaced new drivers, TaylorMade R580XD & Titleist Drivers. I asked if I could hit one with the TaylorMade & hit it 50 YARDS farther than my drive with the TM Firesole driver!
After a few sessions at the driving range I got comfortable with the big club & took it out for a test on the golf course. The first hole is a 360 yard par 4. I teed it up with a Titleist ProV1x & hit the drive 330 yards!
Not only does it go far it goes straight. I would recommend this club to anyone. It makes the game so easy & you won't loose very many balls because you are in the fairway most of the time or not far from it.
So right off the rack I have a great driver. I would suggest the R580 & save $100 or more over the XD or the new R7 series.
Customer Service: Had the driver for 3 weeks & registered it with TaylorMade.

Summary: This is a great club but the stock shaft is "crap." If yoiu have the money upgrade the shaft to a Grafalloy blue or a Proforce shaft. At first I did n't like the club but after a day of using it I was crushing the ball, I even had the long drive on the long drive hole at a tournament. Give the club chance, play with it for 2 or 3 days if you can.
