Cleveland Launcher 330

Summary:
Bought club a week ago at Play It Again Sports. Was having a staying in fairway and slicing. Had traded cheap driver for another cheap model and got worse. Decided to get a quality used driver and found this Launcher 330, Regular 65 shaft, 9.5. So far it's working well, can still slice but its a bad shot, even hit some draws. Distance is about the same but in the short grass more. I play a lot and really like this club. I started playing August '07 so I'm no no expert, just enjoy playing and trying to improve.

Launcher 330

Summary:
Disagree with some previous reviewers that this clubface is overly closed. I do not know the exact spec on this, only that I did not think it was unusually closed. In fact, I hate it when a clubface is overly close (like some hybrids I have tried) as it really takes a herculean effort to keep the clubface in the proper position. This driver required no such manipulation.

I tried this with the 8.5 loft, the proforce 60 regular shaft and normal sized grip. The first thing I noticed was that I hit a bunch of "Richie Allen" line drives. Long, straight bullets that never seem to drop and really would run on the right fairway. It was an effort for me to get a mid-high launch, but I could do it if I really visualized it. The best feature I found with this setup was my directional control...it seemed every drive started where I wanted it to. Now that rarely happens for me with a large 460cc driver. The closest match directionally for me was the Mizuno 400cc MP-001 I used to use. As a matter of fact I also hit that one unusually low, but I blamed the stiff shaft for that one.

Feel was good (not quite as sweet as a flush drive with my 975J however) and the noise made at impact was fine, no complaints. I was able to work the ball both ways, again giving creedence to the perception that the face was not unusually closed.

I had a Cleveland 400cc Launcher that I gave to my brother. I think the 330cc is for me a better club. Similar, but better and easier to hit straight. Again, the Proforce 60 shaft being a nice upgrade, may have contributed to the excellent directional control.

All in all, a great club that you can really hit long on the right fairways. For really soft fairways more carry may be in order so make sure the loft is enough for you. Forced carries may be another story and time will tell on that.

With the price you can pick this up for nowadays, a supremely good deal, six stars out of five for value. Is it a better value than the 975J? I think given the same shaft/loft I would get this club at least one degree more loft than the 975J in order to experience equivalent results. Both clubs are excellent, workable drivers, and much easier to square up than 460cc heads. Bigger is not always better IMHO.

Customer Service:
Never needed any from Cleveland, generally they have well made stuff.

model 330 10.5 deg reg graph

Summary:
Tried this club when it first came out and hit it well but then started to pull it left. The face was closed and with my natural draw this became a problem. Sound is loud and feel is great. Distance was a bit down compared to a Taylormade 580 but if your a slicer the 10.5 deg loft with closed face should help. I think the best advice is that you should try before you buy.

Cleveland Launcher 330

Summary:
Awesome Driver!...I picked it up on ebay for $44.99 and then another 10 dollars to ship it and it was worth every penny. I am hitting the ball the straightest I have ever hit it...Like dead straight down the middle everytime. I am also hitting the ball 10-15 yards further which is good. So to anyone looking for a great driver then pick one up off ebay!!!!
