Callaway Heavenwood 3h, 20 degrees

Summary:
I was a little hesitant about hybrid clubs since I historically haven't hit many of them well compared to the equivalent fairway wood or long iron (I used to carry a 2 iron). I tried Taylormade's rescue club and demoed the Cleveland Hi-Bore hybrids and just couldnt hit them well. That all changed when I was given the Callaway Heavenwood 3H as a gift. I replaced the shaft with a custom I-Rod graphite shaft and this club is the go to club in my bag. The 3H is a bit of a misnomer, since the ball has a trajectory of a strongly hit 2 iron or 5 wood. It has a great launch angle that achieves increasing trajectory so it cuts out the wind throughout 2/3s of its initial flight. It is not a club that is meant to be struck hard, like a 2, 3, or 4 irons. A smooth swing will out this club long and straight. I can hit this club with a lto of consistency in distance and trajectory out of rough, fairway or off the tee. The sole is designed to make this club very playable off most lies including hill or sloped lies (just make sure to swing smoothly and aim accordingly). I can carry this club consistently a good 225 yards off the fairway, which would break my back swinging if I tried with my old 2 and 3 irons. I can get a 230-235 yard tee shot, so it makes it ideal of tight fairways or short par 4s. The club is also very workable, especially when you want to hit high power fades or low punch draws. I am much more precise with this club than my fairway woods and my long irons. I am in the market for the 2H, since I like these hybrids better than my woods. I wouldn't recommend this club for people with very fast swing speeds, there are fairway woods and long irons better suited for quicker swings. Other than that, this club is clutch when you need a 200+ shot. They are a little pricey, but most hybrids in its bracket are, but you do get a quality club.

Customer Service:
Callaway usually has the best customer service, and did with my driver, but I didn't use them so far with this club. I went to Golf Galaxy for the reshafting, and they were great. Within 3 days, the club was back in my bag, and they let me try the shaft to make sure it was the right one.

Heavenwood 2h

Summary:
The look and feel of this hybrid suits me just fine. What i really like is the low penetrating trajectory that my swing produces with this club. i tried to get more loft out of it but that turned out to be a disaster. with a smooth even tempo swing it will carry around 225-235yrds at what seems like eye level though i know its higher and the roll gets me a few more yards. if i try to swing hard it gets ugly. the sound is nice and i find it easier to get off the deck if the grass isn't cut to tight. i will sometimes use it off the tee which adds another 10-20yrds counting to roll if all goes well.

Callaway #5 26* Heavenwood hybrid

Summary:
Just won auction on ebay and have played this GREAT club for two rounds and no longer carry my #3, #4, & #5 irons. Couldn't hit 'em anyway. I am 63 and swing like a broad, so I use light (senior) shafts and believe me this 26* heavenwood is a keeper. I can use it from 140-150 yards and it's deadly on 3 pars.

3H, 4H

Summary:
Since getting these hybrids I've become a fairly consistent 70's shooter as they have really helped me with my long game. I basically use the 3h like a 2 iron and the 4h as a 3 iron since they go similar distances, but the hybrids are much, much easier to hit. The only caveat is that, though I'm an immense fan of the 4h, the 3h has a different sound at impact and it can thow me off here and there. Other than that, the clubs are terrific. The only thing that takes getting used to is the shallow face - if they were a little broader they would be the perfect clubs.

Summary:
I started with a 3H, firm graphite shaft about 1-1/2 years ago and added a 1H to my bag 6 months later. I use these clubs instead of long irons or fairway woods and I'm able to hit them constantly well off the deck. Low projectile shots so most carry an extra 15 – 20 yds once they first hit the ground. I can not reliably hit a long iron shot so having these two clubs available has improved my game tremendously on many par 5’s and long 4’s.
