ping G5 fairway 3 wood

Summary:
The G5 3 wood, 15 degree loft with prolaunch shaft.......a great, solid club to have in the bag. Use this when the driver gets quirky and get decent distances with it (average about 250yds). The prolaunch shaft gives a high ball flight which is fine, great off the tee, off the fairway perhaps needs to be a 'fluffy' lie really as quite a deep face. Only one issue with this club is in the setting up, will quite regularly send this ball right(not a slice/fade) if dont take the time to really set the head up in the correct direction, maybe this is me or maybe the head is slightly distracting, either way, if you do take the time to set up correctly, you wont be dissappointed. Im not able to work a ball so cant comment on the clubs ability or otherwise to do this. Best results off the tee are with an easy swing and a low tee( 1/4"). Hope this proves helpful, would have had 5 stars but for the head set up issue

G5 woods

Summary:
Very solid line of woods. It has Ping quality construction. Forgiving, easy to hit off the tee and off the ground. The 455 steel is springy and the ball jumps off the face. I previously had the Cobra SS and SZ offset woods and I wanted to move onto nonoffset models. The G5's were the right choice. The headsize gives me alot of confidence at address. I do agree with the previous reviewer that the alignment of top and bottom lines is a bit awkward. This doesnt affect the performance. Highly recommend these woods to all range of players.

Customer Service:
Ping responds quickly to emails. Their club repair service is slow and overpriced.

ping G5 fairway woods

Summary:
I've had the G5 3 and 5 woods in my bag for 2 season and loved em..Just recently added the 7 wood and never thought i'd ever do that. but I hit it high and soft 200 yards out of rough, something i'd never do with my 3 iron. They're fine fairway woods and very forgiving. If you are a Ping man you'll enjoy them no doubt.

G5 3-wood

Summary:
I have never been a fan of fairway woods because I couldn't find anything that I can hit better than my long irons. Distance has never been a problem so I haven't worried about not having one. I ended up having an old set of irons I traded in straight up for this club and man is it awesome. It is very consistent and easy to hit. The deeper face makes it a breeze to hit off the tee and there is no problem taking it off the deck. The sound of this club is excellent as well, not fake, just solid. Considering I've never been able to hit fairway woods that well, this club must be different than the rest..in a good way.

Ping G5 Fairway 3 Wood - ProLaunch 75S

Summary:
Bought this club after I got skunked by some friends in a round. I've never been good at hitting woods but I realized it's more important to get of the tee in good shape than trying to bang away with the driver. I only carried a driver and a 2 hybrid in my bag. Bought this club new from 2Golf, took it to the range and was able to dial it it after about half a bucket of balls. Ball flight is a little low (as compared to my driver) but straight as an arrow. I hit the 3 wood about 220-240 yards off the tee, which keeps me in the game. Overall, I'm very impressed with the G5 Fairway Wood. It fits my swing perfectly. Anything near the sweet spot is comes off hot, long and straight. Mis-hits off the toe aren't bad, just not as far. Hits on the sweetspot also yields a nice, pleasing "ping" (pun intended) and mis-hits a duller sound. Haven't been able to work the ball yet but haven't tried either much. I'm just happy with the straight flight. I tried the Cobra Speed F and M, Sonartec, MacGregor NVG and Adams Redline at the range or simulator but I couldn't control them as well. The closest I came to the Ping was the Cleveland Launcher Steel, which had a similar flight. The tie breaker was the Ping's performance at the range. I've played two rounds with the club and I love it. I was so impressed with the club, I traded in my Cobra 2 Hybrid for a Ping G5 5 wood. At $220 new, it's a little pricey, but being able to hold my head up to my friends is priceless. The used club cost $149.

As an aside, I've been reading GolfReview.com for months now, doing a lot of research on irons, drivers and woods. Seeing all the 5 star reviews left me skeptical about the usefulness of the reviews but I have to admit, when you find a good club, you want to tell the world. I highly recommend Ping G5 woods but make sure any club fits your swing before you put down your cash.

Customer Service:
Haven't had to use them but heard they were excellent.
