Summary: Demo'd this at Navy Marine along with L4V, Nike Sumos, TM Burners, & Titleist D2. Despite sound (caused by sole of club, according to Acuchnet rep), much longer than others. My carry distance w/ others was about 190-200 yds into stiff wind using Pinnacle range balls...F carry was about 210-230 even on mis-hits (I now pull hook or duck hook). Planning to buy this club if I can find it used or on sale when new stuff comes out.
BIGGEST LESSON: DEMO SEVERAL CLUBS AT DRIVING RANGE/ON COURSE AT THE SAME TIME!! Unless u really know ur swing tendancies, hitting into store net can be deceiving.

Summary: I was playing with one of the younger "guns" of the club, you know what I am talking about, 17 years old, made of elastic and hits the ball miles. He was using this particular driver and was hitting the ball 300 on the fly easy. Cant mistake the ear shattering "BANG" it was making on contact with the ball. I have always been a mid single figure handicapper with a solid game except I am a 12 h'cap driver. Have been looking for "that driver" for years and I think I have found it. Bought the 9 dg loft model, maybe the 10.5 may have been better as I sometimes have difficulty getting the height I want, but in all other aspects is first class, especially in consistency, I just dont hit the ammount of bad drives I would normally hit with other drivers. Love the big head size and high, big face gives a lot of confidence. Drives my mates crazy with that distinctive loud "BANG" sound it makes on contact. Have never heard another club that makes so distinctive a sound. It can actually be heard all over the course, it is mad!! Love this club, cant really see me changing it.

Summary: Bought the 2007 model 9.0 Deg that was on clearance sale (S$320). A very forgiving club matched with a good shaft (Aldila NVS). Albeit the "unusual" clanking sound, the driver provided consistent distance (220m) and you can feel the weight of the driver's head very well during the down swing. With a slight draw bias, it has also corrected my previous slices - getting straighter shots now. Suggest that the grip be thickened/ adjusted according to hand size as this enhanced the control of the driver. Did the grip adjustment by a pro who also tested the swing speed of the driver and found it suitable for my case (hard hitter). Another suggestion (after trying out at natural driving ranges and during course play) - try to tee the ball about 1/3 above the height instead of the usual 1/2 ball above; and you will probably hit the sweet spot much more often....this was after much training and trying out during games....and you will also lower the already "high launch" nature of the trajectory design. I tried the 2008 version at the driving range and found that the Graphite Design Tour Shaft to be a bit too stiff and lacked the feel compared to the 2007 version.

Just purchased a Taylor Made Burner (clearance sale) to compare with the Speed LD and also to validate if the Golf Digest Hot List is indeed accurate.

Summary: I tried the 2008 model Cobra LD F Speed (in regular flex), but I actually hit the 2007 model better (not as high of a trajectory & straighter). It's probably because the shaft fits my swing better (I have the 2007 model 3 wood as well).
The 2007 model was also on sale for $199!
I don't mind the loud BANG as it sounds like the ball goes a really long way. It sounds like an aluminum baseball bat, so some may not like it.
Using an indoor ball launch monitor I tested the 2008 Callaway HyperX Tour, the Cleveland XLS+, the 2008 TM Burner and the Ping G10. Probably because of the shaft, I consistently hit the LD F Speed longer and straighter - 100 mph swing speed, 146 mph ball speed, avg 3000 rpms, goes 250 - 275 yds depending on whether I hit the sweet spot. :)
Similar Products Used: I used to play a Cleveland Launcher, Comp. Fantastic club. Love the shaft and it goes a long way. The Cobra LD F Speed is only 5 - 10 yds longer, but more forgiving because of its larger face & MOI.
