After having played the Redlines a few years and previously the Adams A7 irons, I decided to go back to the A7 irons. Although I will play them with my Super S hybrids...the irons have proven themselves to be the highest quality and will definitely reflect my game abilities as I look to break the 90 barrier for 18 holes. The distance I am currently getting out of these clubs is very consistent throughout the set. When I played these irons previously, I had only one stock shot - a fade/slice. After working with my GolfTec coach I have been able to see a variety of shot shapes and can as easily fade the ball or draw it or hit it straight like never before! I am looking forward to going low with these irons this season...and I must admit these irons are tried and true!

Adams Redlines

Had my A7's a couple of week and they are excellent in every way...you can shape your shots and control trajectory, they are light weight and have forged heads...the best irons i have ever had and just put some Callaway X22's in the closet because the A7 is much better club. Should work just as well for mid and high handicappers. A great feeling and top peformer club..tremendous value.

Never been an Adams user but these irons are just plain solid. After testing these irons, I traded in my Cobra S2max. These irons are the most consistent and accurate irons I have ever hit. It takes an effortless swing to hit these irons and the sound and forgiveness is sweet. The hybrids are a joy to hit and the results are just awesome to see.

I recently picked up a set of the Adams a7 irons and am quite pleased so far. As a beginner golfer this year having started with an inexpensive set of irons, I was predominantly struggling with inconsistency. Much of this was due to varying setup procedures with different clubs, that is where the genius of this set came in. The flat(ish) soles on the irons make setup very obvious and consistent throughout the set, so now I feel as though I am using the exact same swing on all the clubs in the set(hybrids included). This has helped me immensely, particularly in the lower irons/hybrids. I have yet to hit a bad shot with the 3, 4, 5 in this set(I attribute this to the consistent setups).

Distance: I do hit these further than my previous set, which was expected as the clubs are generally lofted stronger throughout the set(2 degrees). However, I do believe the additional distance is more than just the loft difference as I have been getting between 10 and 20 yards more per club.

Accuracy: At first I was having an issue with the face closing more quickly than expected, but a simple grip adjustment fixed that and now they are straight shooters.

Forgiveness: I don't seem to be losing a huge amount if distance on off center hits(mostly out towards the toe), maybe 5-10 yards.

Ball flight: 5-pw go pretty high for me(which I like) Hybrids have a pretty mid level flight.

The real clincher for me was the hybrids in this set, I had issues with inconsistent distance in my long irons. I don't have this issue with the hybrids.

I am 13 handicap and I went out looking for a set of irons to replace my Adams A3os clubs that I have been using for the past two years. The A3os is a great set of clubs, but at my current swing speed it was becoming pretty much impossible to hit anything except a draw. I was also looking for a set with a lower trajectory ball flight.

I heard that Adams new A7 set was a step towards a "players club" but still had enough forgiveness for a mid-capper like me. A guy at my local club was selling a set that he used for only about five rounds for $400. He let me hit a couple, but I figured at that price it was a pretty good deal so I bought the set without really giving them a proper demo. The set I got was stock specs on all the clubs - 3 and 4 hybrid with the stiff UST graphite shaft and 5-PW irons with the stock stiff DG shaft (a special shaft designed for Adams from the looks of it).

This is in a way two set of clubs - I'll start with the hybrids. The two hybrids in the set are fantastic - Adams always has made the bet hybrids IMHO. The cambered sole gives a bit more shot making ability, they work great out of just about any lie including deep rough. I also love the stock shaft - I get a nice mid ball flight - not too high and not too low. There is definitely some forgiveness, but not as much as Adams OS clubs. Distance is good too - I hit the 3 about 220 yds and the 4 about 200 yds with a controlled swing. I give the hybrids five stars.

The 5-PW irons are a different story - shots that I hit on the sweet spot seemed to do what I wanted, but anything a bit off center gave disappointing results. There didn't seem to be much forgiveness. The biggest disappointment for me is the shaft - its a DG but not a typical S300. It's a lighter model with a lower kick point - so you get a much higher ball flight - too high in my opinion. They were pretty much the same as my old A3os in that regard. And the feel at impact for these irons just seems harsh, even on well hit shots. Its a very "clicky" feel - definitely not a forged head. I also noticed a tendency for the clubs to dig - I do have a steep swing, so these clubs may be better for sweepers. I would be curious to see how these clubs would perform in the graphite shaft option - my feeling is that in this case the graphite shaft would work better in this set (its the same UST shaft as the hybrids). In the end, I would have to give the irons about two stars. They might work for some, but are not to my liking.

I recently demoed a couple sets of Callaway's - the '09 x-forged and the x-22 tours. While these are "players" clubs, I like the feel and performance of those irons better overall. My best advice - try before you buy and get fitted by a good pro if you can.

Summer of 2009 I started scoring well, brought it down from 95/100 to about 85 regularly. So in December I went and hit a million iron sets because my wife was going to buy me new irons for Christmas. I hit a lot, but thinking I am a "Player" now I narrowed it down to Ping i15 and TM R9 TP's. I've since learned this, when going to a store and demoing clubs, ask to hit more then just the 7 iron in every set.... any decent player can hit ANY brand 7 iron well, and off those mats into the simulator is NOT real golf either. So, I chose the Ping i15 irons. The i15's actually are pretty awesome irons, unlike many blades and "players" irons they are very forgiving, 8-W in the Ping's are like throwing darts. The 3 iron in the set is actually easier to hit then the 4, 5, and 6. The 4, 5 & 6 irons in the Ping's were the problem area for me, but that's a big 160-200 yard problem! So I got to play the other day with someone with a brand new set of Adams A7's. He let me hit them and swing them. I fell in love, went to Golfsmith the next day and hit the ENTIRE set in the store to see if I really loved them...... traded in my Ping i15's that day. Adams A7 irons are considered game improvement irons, which I humbley have to admit, that's where I am, not a "player" yet. The 3 & 4 iron in the set are hybrids, which for 80% of us golfers in the world, is most ideal because those are typically the hardest irons to hit high and straight. That's why the hybrid was invented and that's exactly what these do. The 5 iron is a tranisitional hollow-back iron, thicker then a regular iron but not a hybrid. The 6-W are very traditional in looks. Even more traditional with thinner top line and thinner soles then the i15's I had. The scoring irons, 8-W are the same exact loft as the Ping i15's, but they are a lot lighter, all the irons are a lot lighter, so I am getting more swing speed, and adding a few yards to each club too. So that's a bonus. Oh, and these irons look sweet in the bag..... I get compliments all the time.
