Shoots in the 80s Model Reviewed: Wilson Staff Blade Summary: Bought a set of FG-49's 2-9 with original Firestick 3.5 steel shafts from a Play it Again Sports in greeat shape for $14, had the lies and lofts adjusted and let me tell you they feel so smooth. I've been looking around for any info on this model as the Wilson website has nothing on them, and have only been able to find the FG-17 and 51. Regardless of when they were made they have made their way into the bag on a few occasions and to be honest I don't see much difference if any between these and my Bridgestone J33 Combos as far as distance and accuracy. Though I normally shoot in the low 80's, it's normally a function of my 36 putts per round. If you can get your hands on these sticks, do so, you won't be disappointed. Off to work on the short game!! Customer Service: NA Similar Products Used: Bridgestone J33 Combo, Titleist Tour Model

Shoots in the 70s Model Reviewed: 1982 Staff Tour Blade FG-17 Summary: I have owned these irons since new in 1982, and suffice it to say, I've told my wife that I want to be buried with them when I die.
Describe them in few words: the most unforgiving club around, but the most rewarding club around. Work with them, learn them and you won't play anything but forged blades. The thin line at address is appealing and helps to align the club.
What I love the most is the extreme workability. I can make the sublest of address adjustment with stance and grip, and know exactly how the club will react and the resulting ball flight. My golf buddies are still amazed that I can fade, draw, fade, draw, punch, fly on demand. Now, not every shot is exactly what I draw up, but that's where the feedback comes in. Blindfold me and I'll tell you with pretty good accuracy where the ball ends up and how it got there. You can't do that with any cavity-backed club I've swung.
The favorite part of my rounds (usually with at least one new acquaintance) is when the newly met partner asks politely if they can swing 'em. I've had a few offer me cash on the spot for the irons. No dice. Like I said: They'll be buried with me.
I once showed them to a muni pro, and he offered to buy them because I shouldn't be playing with them if not scratch. He took a Sharpie and drew the sweetspot on the face of the 5-iron. The circle was smaller than a dime. But let me tell you, if you hit that 'dime' it's like no other feeling in golf.
I'm now approaching 50 and have noticed the change in distance I can carry, but the new drivers have helped. I will fight tooth and nail to avoid having to move on to easier to hit clubs. Instead, I plan to invest more range time, which always offers a good return on the investment! Also, another excuse to get out of the house. In the meantime, the clubs are locked away where nobody can see them...

Shoots in the 70s Model Reviewed: Wilson Staff Summary: When I play badly and feel like quitting the game, I pull my Wilson Staffs out from under the bed and everything is back to normal. I own about eight different models and I have used every type of iron you can name. Nothing beats Wilson Staff forged blades. From the Dynapowers to the 1976 classic muscle- backs, nothing compares. I know because I have owned over 200 different sets of other irons. Customer Service: The best. Shoots in the 90s Model Reviewed: 1986 Staff Tour Blade Fluid Feel Summary: So, I know that this blade is not for 90s golfer, but I can't help to get away from it. Bought it used in almost new condition for $80 from a local Craigslist.
Top view is a beauty. It sits nicely onto the fairway grass. The face is about the same size of the ball (especially the 2 iron) asking for a perfect stroke. It's just too hard to find these kind of iron nowadays. Not Mizuno MP series, Titleist blades, or any other new blades.
FEELLL, Wilson names them Fluid Feel for a reason. It does feel like fluid when a good contact is made with the ball. Buttery doesn't seem to describe it for me. It's more like a butterfly stroke when you're swimming: soft, some resistance yet the potential force is perfectly transfer to the ball.
I tried to ground this set to play a more forgiving iron sets but no luck. After testing out other new tech. irons such as Cobra Carbon, Titleist 755, Mizuno MP-60, Nike CCi ... the top thin line from them just too big for me. The only set that would come close to this set in term of LOOK is PING S59.
Between S59=$400 and Staff=$100 on EBay ... I'll choose Wilson. Sure, I don't get the advantage from the new technology but it will force me to work on my game much harder ...
Within 4 months using this iron, I was forced to improve my game a lot. I have more consistent ball strike and more predictable ball flight. The workability potential of this iron set is unlimited. Though I'm still working on that, I have cut my game from the 110s to 90s since 4 months ago. With more practice, and lessons I'll probably in the 80s in no time. Customer Service: Golfsmith = too expensive but nice people
Craigslist = nothing good anymore these days
EBay = excellent bargain for any golf set

Shoots in the 70s Model Reviewed: Wilson staff tour blade Summary: The wilson staff blades provides the feed back and workability that I couldnt find in my old titleist 690 cb's. I lose about 5 years per club pbut my distance off of the tee compensates for the lack of distance in the irons. My advice, take one club more on every shot and you should fare well.
