Yonex Rekin Super Putter

Summary:
I was dissapointed with the performance of this putter. It seemed to me that the long range characteristics of the putter (over 200 yards) seemed very weak and/or flat. The putter is pleasing visually, but hey, if it can't perform, it isn't going to be in my bag.

cheers

Summary:
This is a faily bold move by Yonex, as the Rekin is the first putter by this company to be in contention with top of the range putters that have already established themselves. The question is if people trust the reputation and research by Yonex enough to spend $300 on their product.
I found the Rekin to be extremely well face balanced, enabling it to be more suited to a robotic [or pendulum] type stroke. This did not suit my stroke, so I felt quite uncomfortable with it. Secondly, the looks appear to be very well rounded at the bottom, with the weights clear to see. Unfortunately this all changes when putting with it. The putter looks angular and slightly blocky, and the thick black line gives the impression of a beginner's putter. The design seemed to resemble a Callaway putter.
The feel was quite soft, but nothing exceptional or unusual. I did enjoy it though. Performance was not wonderful for me, but this putter may appeal to someone with a different stroke or different taste in putters. I would, however, recommend a Scotty Cameron as a better alternative in that price range, as these are not only excellent pieces of equipment, they are icons, recognized by almost anyone who plays golf. When one looks at this putter, it does not appear to be exceptional or expensive, and for this price, the quality should really ooze out of the putter. I really do not think the price is fully justified. About half that would be more along the lines.
