Red X5

Summary:
This is a review of the new Red X5. I've tried a countless number of putters and this is the best by far. This club allows for the proper inside-square-inside putting stroke. The balance, feel and simple/classic design are absolutely perfect. Loft is so important on putters because I've struggled with every putter with less than 4 degrees of loft, which is most companies. With my putting stroke, it seemed lower lofted putters tended to pinch the ball too much causing it to bounce and stray offline. With 4 degrees of loft, this club seems to produce a nice roll, which can also be attributed to the milled face. I much prefer a milled face over an insert. The biggest improvement I've seen with this club over other putters is speed control. Longer putts are always within tap-in range and shorter to mid putts are always scaring the hole if they're not going in. Now I'm not saying you will make every put with this thing, but my confidence has greatly increased. I've always had face-balanced putters, but the proper toe-hang is helping me become a very consistent putter. I couldn't be more pleased with this club. And this isn't a honeymoon phase either, as I always thoroughly test equipment prior to writing reviews. Yes this club is expensive, but I've wasted more money trying and getting rid of other less expensive putters. Besides, the price would be considered inexpensive, relatively speaking, if this were a driver. Don't think of it as a lot of money to hit the ball a short distance, consider it as a worthy investment for a club you are going to use most often. Make this investment once in your life and you will save money in the long run. Just don't leave your bag unattended as this is a prime target for theft. Of the all the other putters I've tried, the simple Ping Karsten series or the Maltby putter would be my second choice.

Customer Service:
Haven't had to use them, but I heard good things.

Summary:
The putter is very accurate within 10 feet. The alignment system is easy to use, and has great feel. On the long lag putts, the ball skids a lot, but on the short putts, you'll have confidence like never before.

Titleist Red X

Summary:
I bought the Titleist Red X putter last spring and have played it for the past year.
I dropped from 32 putts per round to 30 and feel that it is the best putter from 6-12 feet that I have ever seen. It also is great on lag putts. The ball just seems to always end up around the hole.
However inside of 5 feet the confidence was shrinking with every putt as the face seems to appear closed at address and I felt like I was constantly having to make adjustments.
Set the ball too far forward and it pulls, you almost have to play this ball just a hair forward of center for the truest roll.
I think that this is a great putter that will reduce your 3-putts and hole out many more of those mediocre up and down chip shots.
But for me the lack of consistency inside 5 feet made me move on.
If this putter squares up nicely for you at address then believe me you have picked a winner and won't be sorry.

Summary:
I didn't believe anyone could pry my favorite Rossie II out of my hands until I demoed this putter on the course. Deadly accurate inside of 10 feet. Easy to line up, nice feel. No frills. Just a good, no nonsense mallet style putter.

Titleist Red-X

Summary:
I generally use face-balanced mallet style putters and I thought that's what I'd purchased. My Red-X is not face-balanced. When you balance it on the shaft, the toe droops about 3/4 inch below level. I don't know if that's an intentional design feature, but I really like it. I tend to pull putts and this factor has really minimized that tendency. The feel is very soft, but not too soft. The club has a good degree of forgiveness, but it still provides adequate feedback on miss-hit putts. That's very important to me as I don't like mallets that provide no sense of a sweetspot. That's the constant failure present in most mallets. Good players don't want so darn much forgiveness that touch/feel is eliminated.

If I have one major concern at this point, it's the feeling that when I position my hands at address, it almost looks like the club is in a slightly delofted attitude. I love the overall look and feel, but this factor is significant. I hate to let some club guy bend such an expensive putter, but I'm to the point that I might just give it a shot. This club is so close to winning a starting position in my bag, but not just yet.

My long-standing putter is the Bobby Grace Fat Lady (Nick Price Signature). Best putter of all-time.
