Description Designed for elite performance, the Odyssey Black Series features precision milled putters with traditional styling. Each model utilizes the fine-tuned loft system, which optimizes each putter's loft ...
Summary: upgraded from a white hot 2 ball putter and at first I was a bit skeptical. Have played 4 rounds with the putter and I have to admit that I have had much more consistent results. I will be one to tell you that the equipment is only as good as the person holding it but you get a consistent roll from all over the face of the putter. If you are looking for a putter that will put the ball in for you, you may want to get a hold of the producers of caddy shack and have them get you a putter much like the one rodney dangerfield used. If you are looking for a top of the line putter and demand consistent results, awesome feel and confidence in your bag than look no further.

Model Reviewed: Odyssey Black #3 Mallet Putter
Summary: Fantastic Putter. This Odyssey Black #3 gives you the most well balanced putter stroke you will ever take and gets the ball rolling faster than any putter i have ever used. Sunk a 40 footer and probably putted better than i ever have the first time i used it.

I spent 2 hours on the practice green with the Black Series #1, SC Newport Studio #2 (they didn't have a #1 available at 34"), Taylor Made Rossa Daytona CGB, Bettinardi C02, Ping Redwood Anser and the Yes Callie.
I was convinced I would walk away with the Scotty but it turned out to be my least favourite of the above other than the Yes.
Putters are obviously very personal things, but I found the SC just a little clunky. Also I didn't like the standard grip.
In the end it came down to either the Black Series or the Bettinardi. All the above are very good putters, but these two stood out with great weight and balance, great feel, great looks and for me they produced the most consistently good roll. I actually checked the roll by using some (good quality)range balls with a black line on them.
I went for the Black Series because right from the first putt, I felt that I was taking the head back square to the ball every time, and if I did hit slightly off centre it still delivered a good result.
The Black Series especially seemed to make me keep the head low to the ground which promoted classic shoulder rock, rather than getting the hands involved in the swing.
The finish as you have a right to expect a these prices, is excellent.
Like I said, putters are very personal and it may be that a $50 deal will work for you, but, if you are willing to spend the money on a top quality named brand, don't buy anything until you at least try the Black Series.
The downside here is that I paid GBP 189 for this baby. Rip off Britain strikes again !!
Could probably have got it cheaper on ebay, but once I tried it, I had to have it. Working on the pounds for dollars principle, this putter is still an expensive proposition in the U.S. as well. On balance just about worth it though.
If you are rolling those putts in, you won't be thinking how much you paid for the putter.

Model Reviewed: Odyssey Black
Summary: The Good: Phenomenal putter. Face stays true even on off-center hits. Very expensive but if you have the loot and you prefer name brand products, go for it. This putter is like money in the bank.
The Bad: Want to get this putter for $50? Go to your boutique golf store and take a very good look at this putter. Then go to your local Sports Authority and find the putter that looks VERY similar to it with the term "Polar Balanced" and the "Carbite" brand on it. Then buy it. I have the Carbite putter as well as the Odyssey and the design, weighting, and feel are virtually IDENTICAL. I'm keeping the Carbite as my back-up putter... it's just a $50 version of the Black. If you aren't an equipment snob and you want the best deal, the Carbite putters are excellent values.
The Ugly: See above. Impress your friends with the $250 putter or sink just as many putts with the $50 version without the status. The choice is yours.
