Precept Tour Advantage

Summary:
I tried this ball in order to find something that had less spin off the driver than the Titleist Professional and HPTour. What a difference! I was much more accurate with this ball and, with my high swing speed, did not suffer from any perceptible lack of spin with my irons and wedges. I even managed to shoot a 73 the first round I played with the Tour Advantage. Great performance and durability for the money. Caution: about one club longer off the irons.

Tour Advantage

Summary:
This ball does what the manufacturer claims: They say it is a distance ball with more feel than other distance balls. That certainly doesn't mean it is going to have the feel or spin of a Tour Premium and it does not. It is long, straight, durable and putts reasonably well. I had no durability problems as some have reported. After 18 holes it appeared as when I started. The promotional materials says it stops on greens due to angle of descent and this is true. I thought it stopped better (i.e. quicker) than Precept "ladies." It has little spin off the driver so it is straight and it is long. For $24 it is a good ball. It has a softer feel than any other distance ball I can think of. I know some have found the Strata longer but I play the Strata Tour with some regularity and found the Precept longer. Precept says it is a ball for a wide range of golfers and I would agree. I give it five stars because it does what it claims to do and at a reasonable price.

If it is white, round and the size of a golf ball I have probably hit it.

Precept Tour Advantage

Summary:
My opinion isn't as high as others on this ball. I should preface my comments by stating that my handicap is 16.6, and I hit a 5 iron 155 yards (i.e., there are longer hitters than me!) The Lady and the Strata Professional Distance are better balls for a player seeking distance, plus they have better spin on the greens. My experience with the Tour Advantage is, for example, I can hit a drive and it seems like it's really taking off, then the ball looks like it hits a brick wall and drops straight down. I asked my club pro about this and (I should add he's a scratch golfer) he said that he's had the same experience. He also said that even though Precept claims that it's a distance ball, it acts more like a spin ball. Perhaps off the driver this is true, but it doesn't spin well when hitting pitch shots into the green. I really think overall that the Lady is a better all around ball regardless of what Precept claims.

Summary:
Nice feeling ball, nice distance, adequate spin. My only complaint is that my iron grooves chew the cover off this ball! Ball is good for only a couple holes or so; because of this, the value rating suffers. If I had balls given to me, this would be a great ball!!

Summary:
First 18 holes with this yesterday: Extremely long, feels decent, one ball lasts at least 18 holes, spins OK. I was hitting at least one less club into every par 4. I would have been in the 70's but consistently was hitting over greens. Not a great ball for attacking pins on firm greens (will continue to play Strata Tours for those courses) but this is a great everyday ball for those who don't depend on lots of spin to score.
