Summary:
I've only been golfing seriously since the begining of this year. That being said, in Jan/Feb I would simply buy the cheapest balls that I could find (usually at Big 5 Sporting Goods). These were on sale, 15 balls for $10, so i picked them up. My playing partner shoots in the high 70's/low 80's, and it seems like he has a faster/more efficient swing than me. On at least 4 occasions however, I outdrove him. This surprised me, and kind of got under his skin. He asked me what kind of balls i was using, Dunlop Rebels I replied. That being said, having purchased nicer golf balls since then, the difference is astounding. These things feel like you're carefully rounded stones. I would not go back to Rebels, for no other reason than the fact that the USGA does not approve them, but certainly because I enjoy the feeling of softer golf balls.
