Taylor Made Red/Black

Summary:
I switched to the Taylor Made Red and Black models after playing the ProV1 and Pro V1x models.

Taylor Made Red and Black balls off the tee are much much longer, straighter and soft off the tee with my Driver. These balls are much more superior to anything I have ever used.

On approach shots, I get perfect spin and control with my wedges. Long and mid iron flight are perfect with these golf balls.

the Taylor Made Red and Black balls putt real well too. Durability is very good. This is a perfect golf ball. I"m sure NASA could not beat the performance of the Taylor Made Red and Black balls. This is a Must ball to play.

TP Red LDP

Summary:
My old balls were the Nike ONE Plat and Callaway HX 56 Tour which I thought were great but as those are now discontinued I needed to find a new ball, and think I found it with the TP Red.

I picked up a box to try out a new ball and simply love it. I normally shoot between 82-85 on my home course. Out of 4 rounds with this ball I shot 79 twice and the other rounds were 80 and 82.

The ball is as long if not longer then the One Plats off the tee I also noticed better driver control the balls that tailed to the left stayed in the short grass. I also like the fact it produces a much lower flight over the Nike and Cally.

They have great feel off iron shots into the green similar to the HX 56 tours the ball feels like it sticks to the face a little longer giving great feed back. Also the ball flight remained nice and low.

I thought they had great control chipping and wedge shots. Less spin then the Tour 56 and Plat’s but still enough to drop and stop on short wedges and back spin on full short irons.

The roll off the putter was the most significant advantage I found over the other 2 balls rolled very true with excellent feel. My best putting of the year with these balls.

One of the rounds was a windy day and the ball held its line well and despite the wind the distance loss was not significant to worry about.

The ball does scuff but so did the ONE Plats and HX 56 Tours so no big issue there I think that will occur with any premium soft cover ball.

I would recommend anyone looking for lower ball flight and a good all around ball to pick these up. The price just dropped on them as well making it a great buy. I heard if you need the higher ball flight the TP Black is the one to try.

TP Black

Summary:
I've been playing the TP Black for about 2 seasons now and I can't say enough good things about the ball. It's long, I like the feel and it spins like crazy with a good iron shot. I spun one back about 5 feet last week with a solid 9 iron. Unlike some, I have had no problem with durability and managed to play 20 plus holes with the same ball, before deciding to retire the ball to by shag bag. It plays well with scuffs on it, so when it has a little scuff, I still keep it in play. I do draw the line at cart path scuffs though. Before this ball I played the Callaway HX hot when I wanted a long hard ball and the Nike One Black for my regular ball. To me the TP BLack has the same feel off all clubs as the Nike One Black, but I think the TP wins in the distance category. The TP also feels great off the putter. The TP Black also feels very similar to the new Nike Tour D, which is a nice ball as well. The only draw back to the TP as with all premium balls is the price when not on sale.

Taylor Made TP red

Summary:
I made the change to TP red recently. It all started with the 2 for $55 deal. I figured I could not go wrong with a premium ball at that price. I chose the red because my driver can be a little sporatic (spraying left and right)and I hoped the reduced spin rate might help that. It sure did. IF I miss a fairway now it is by a few feet not 15-20 yards. I produce enough spin with my irons that the reduced spin is not an issue with the approach. I know the black is suppose to be a little longer, but the other day I played a course that I use to play 4X a week and everyone of my drives was a new longest drive for that individual hole. Just like the ProVs, durability is an issue with these balls as it was with balata. A pure iron shot will produce the cheese grater effect almost every time. Lucky or unlucky for me, I don't play often enough for this to hurt my pocket book. If I were playing everyday I would probably choose a more durable ball.

Talormade TP Black

Summary:
I wanted to purchase this ball for 2 reasons: it is supposed to be a high-quality golf ball and you can find 2 dozen for $55 at many places, AND if you order on some sites, you can select a custom number for your golf ball, which is pretty cool.
I figured I should try a sleeve of them first before committing $55 to buy 24 of them. I am glad that I did.
While this might be a good ball, the covers shredded with ease. I hit a 3/4 wedge shot and had a good scuff on it. After striking a solid 4 iron on the next hole, I had an even larger scuff on it. After 7 holes with the ball, it was time for a new one. ...Apparently the ball knew it too, I lost it in the woods on my next shot.
The distance and feel of it was good, the durability however, left me wanting a bit more.
I typically play the lower-end 3-piece balls (around $27-$30/dozen) and would prefer those to this model strictly on the durability.
I only played 1 round with this ball and won't be taking advantage of the cool offers (custom number and 2dozen/$55 deal).
If you don't care too much if a ball gets scuffed up and is basically unusable after 6-7 holes, then I would take advantage of the deals. If you do care about the durability, I would look for another ball.
