Cobra Speed LD M

Summary:
I hit the ball far, 150 yard 9-iron, but am inconsistant with my driver. I have had a couple of back injuries and have had to change my swing, ie slow it down, so my stiff shafted driver isn't working anymore. If I get lazy through my swing I get a NASTY SLICE, but if I hit it right I can drive short par 4 greens (300yds). I've been looking for a driver that I can hit consistently even if I have to give up a little yardage. I went to Dick's and tried 5 drivers on their monitor. I tried the TM Burner, Cleveland HiBore, Nike SQ, Cobra Speed, and Calloway Hyper X. I was the most consistant with the Cobra. Even on my miss hits I was w/ in 15yds of my pure hits in distance. This driver is very forgiving. I probably spent an hour in the monitor trying the different clubs. The Burner was a close second, but my miss hits were less forgiving. Overall I've lost a little distance than w/ my old driver, but I'm not swinging as hard. I was coming out of my shoes to hit my old driver but I went with a Regular flex for the first time and was swinging at a relaxed 96mph. I hit everything w/in 15 yards of the center line of the fairway and in distance after 30 shots. I took it to the course the next day and averaged 285yds. Everything was in the fairway and I had no problem shaping it either way. This is by far the best $149.00 (last years model on clearance) I have spent in a long time.

Cobra LD M Model

Summary:
I can hit a driver a good distance, usually with the same results as Tiger (bonafide 10 hc). All over the place. Same fault when I miss, always a serious high spinning push to the far right (open face at impact). Lately tried the Nike Sumo with mixed results and always end back with my Titleist 983K (shortened to 44", reweighted). Needing a club I can keep in the middle of the fairway, I tried the Cobra in 10.5 degrees. Bought it on feel alone and the fact the shaft is low kick that seems to work better with my swing. The face sets up about 2 degrees closed. Just finished reading an article on Golf Digest about tilting the shaft forward instead of the traditional straight method on the driver set-up, works perfect. All I can say is first of all this driver is long and I mean seriously long. Par 4's reduced to a drive and wedge. Straight down the fairway with every drive. I mean this driver is easy to hit and with the closed face and the low-kick shaft it unwinds perfectly with an effortless swing. Nice high carrying launch with distance to spare. Hits feel solid and I like the sound, unlike those tin-can drivers you hear all over the course. The shaft is Graphic Design YS Tour AD and it unwinds very well on the approach to the ball. My swing speed is only averaging 95 mph but is very compact and smooth. I have no complaints at all with this driver and I am not kidding when I say I can hit the middle of the fairway with every drive. The head design really helps keep the clubface on the correct approach to the ball. This driver has given me confidence to know I can get the ball where it needs to be with every shot. I would recommend you try this driver and if it works for you, then you are set. You will get plenty of distance. Playing the first shot from the middle of the fairway, the rest of my game is solid and I am sure this is going to shave off a few strokes each round. I am very impressed with this driver.
