SMT Nemesis

Summary:
Purchased an SMT Nemesis head in a 10 degree loft on recommend from a club refinisher who I have been dealing with for a few years.
All of my woods are fitted with Rapport Blue Velvet tipped S Flex shafts so I decided to give it a try with the same set-up.
Best way to say it. I was not expecting what happened when I went to the range to put it to work and then when I put it in play. Within ten swings I felt comfortable with it. This head responded very well for me. I fade the ball and found that it produces a very nice flight a shade higher than the 8.5 degree J33P Bridgestones that I have been on for about 18 months.
When I put it in play I was really surprised, and obviously delighted, with the amount of roll that it delivered on the two flat par 5s and the one long downhill(490 yd)par 4 that I used it on at my home course.
Course management and short game are my strongest skills so I only pull driver with reachable par 5s or a long par 4s. On these three holes I am routinely 1 1/2 to 2 clubs shorter on approach. On competition courses I have used it on I have consistently seen the same results.

This is one very good piece of equipment that SMT has produced and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Summary:
This driver is really nice. I paid under 100 bucks for the club on ebay in excellent condition with a killer (IMHO)shaft. Since the model I have is 12 degree, I had trouble initially with hitting it too high. I have since made some swing corrections and it is now "in the bag", replacing a very good TaylorMade R580, a Mizuno MP-001 400cc (which is also a great driver but the shaft kept me from hitting it high enough) and the Cleveland Launcher 400 (also not bad). The best thing about the Nemesis is the incredible feel that it has when hit well. I also have the Assassin II World Champion Stiff shaft and this is an excellent shaft, maybe the best I have ever tried. I swing somewhere between 90-95 mph on average, and only carry the ball about 230 to 240 on my best hits.

As you may have picked up on, I don't like the huge headed drivers, and anything over 400cc I regard as suspicious. SMT is a great company and I am thinking about purchasing a Babylon to see how that driver performs. Hope this meandering helps someone. Good luck and hit 'em straight.

Nemesis

Summary:
Another excellent SMT product! This was my first SMT driver it is a ten* with an Accuflex Assassin II World Champion S shaft. This club help me learn how to properly hit driver. It goes long and straight. I went ahead and upgraded to the SMT 455 Deep Bore, but I am keeping this club as my backup. I like it too much to let it go.

If you are looking for a great club that will truly help you improve your game without taking you to the poor house, this is it!

SMT Nemesis

Summary:
I am the very happy owner of an SMT Nemesis with a 7 degree head coupled with a 47" Accuflex VS339 XX flex shaft. I'm a leftie who frequently hits drives over 350 yards (especially since I purchased this club) and absolutely love it! I also own Wilson Deep Red II 10.5 degree and Integra SoooLong 7.5 degree drivers. They both have their good points but now live largely in my closet since the Nemesis came along.

When I first tried the club out I was impressed after the first hit. The feel of the club, ball flight and trajectory were excellent. I thought I hit the first 4 shots or so well, and then I REALLY nailed one. WOW!! The ball exploded off the clubface and sailed way over the 300 yard marker at the range. I remember thinking this was more like a weapon than a golf club! There’s a lovely sound at impact and the ball releases nicely when it eventually lands.

I would definitely recommend this club to any long drivers out there as the combination of power and value is hard to beat. The lifetime guarantee on the heads is great too, as anyone who's busted a clubhead after the usual 12 month guarantee period knows. The 370cc head is a nice shape and comparatively compact size, especially if you're like me and don't like huge-headed drivers. The club sits nicely at address and for the skilled golfer the ball can be worked both ways. The head is quite forgiving, although bad swings are punished (as they should be!). I’d definitely recommend considering a lower lofted driver than you’d normally consider though. With the combination I’m using my launch angle is about 15 degrees, which can be painful into a decent headwind. Downwind it’s about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on! I’m currently trying to obtain permission from my wife to purchase a 4 degree version…

I’ve let a few other guys try the Nemesis with varying results – the higher handicappers tend to fight a slice when using it, which I believe is more related to the stiff shaft than the head. The lower handicappers love it. They seem to appear from nowhere when I go to the driving range in the hope that I’ll let them try it out again! The smooth face never fails to draw comments either.

Unfortunately there’s no perfect driver for everyone, but with the correct loft and shaft I’m sure most people could come very close with this one. Value is excellent too. I mean, why pay double or triple for something no better just because some PGA guy uses it and it has a Swoosh symbol on it? It’s no wonder the SMT arsenal of clubs has been so dominant in long driving competitions if this is an example.

Customer Service:
Unable to comment - I didn't get this club directly from SMT as I live in Australia.
