I got this driver last week w the stiff ultralight 60 shaft. I played 2 rounds w/ it so I may be a little premature but think I got a feel for it. 1st off... it's not as long as other drivers I have, I'm loosing at least 20-30 yds compared to my Nicklaus & BB 2004. I'm sure it's the shaft but I can't get the balls up, most of my drives are low. As for the sound, it sucks. It's a dull thud , can't tell if you hit it good or bad. I'm NOT hitting the hooks like I was w/ my other drivers & most shots are on line. The overall head is big enough but the actual hitting surface is not that big, doesn't ooze confidence. I'm sticking w/ it for awhile but would say it's a better players club.

I bought this driver from Golf Galaxy pre-owned for $50. It is has an 8.5 degree loft and has a S flex Speeder shaft. I was sold on this club because my swing speed of 112 mph was too fast for my old driver causing it to slice hard right. I had learned to correct my setup for this, but yearned for the distance lost due to the erratic shot. After playing with the 975L-FE, I have been able to nearly eliminate a bad shot right, and have found that lost distance. I am now constantly hitting the ball 290-300 yards with a slight draw, and blasted my longest just today at 323 yards. This club is wonderful, very easy to hit, and with a stiff shaft you don't have to worry about swinging too fast. This club is a God send, forged by Jesus Himself.

What a pleasant surprise this stick is! I traded for it as a backup driver to have a lower lofted stick for windy days... I have been hitting mt Cobra SZ400 10.5 very well, but with a very high launch. I tried out the 975 and boy was I impressed! This thing is smooth and is very long. The full tilt swing hit on the screws will put it out there 300+. The more moderate swing will consistently take it out 270-280ish. Fantastic! And best of all, it is a very easy club to hit... my misses are hooks, and while this driver does not turn me into a fader, it does moderate the hook, which is all I can reasonably ask for. If I take it away less inside, the driver is very straight, maybe a slight draw..... a bit low on the trajectory, but not too low... I have a graphite design YS-6 S flex, 9.5* 45". I had no idea that the 975 was this long, and boy are they cheap! This is now my #1 driver, and I have hit most everything. For the price and performance, WELL worth a try!

This driver is a sleeper bargain and this is same driver Sergio Garcia was using before he went to Taylor Made. With this driver, you are getting the performance of the Titleist 983 drivers at bargain basement prices. This driver is 350 cc (12% larger than the 975J) which is the same size as the Titleist 983E. When I bought the driver, the Titleist 905 was not available and the Titleist 983 was the current model for Titleist. In 2004, I picked up this driver on Ebay for $100 and reshafted the driver (since I did not like the stock shaft) with a Harrison Pro 2.5 Titanium 60 shaft for another $73. My clubhead speed is about 105 and I have a high launch swing. I was fitted with a regular/firm flex at Golfsmith. This shaft has a mid kick point and low torque and weighs about 65 grams. This driver and shaft combination is excellent! My drives have very little curvature and the spin rate is lower, producing more roll. My previous driver was a Titleist 975-D 7.5 with a stock Titleist shaft and the 975-D was designed for the better player. I struggled with consistency with the 975-D since I do not play enough. The Titleist 975-D is good when you are swinging well and not very forgiving when you are not swinging well. I really like Titleist 975 L-FE compared to 975-D. I am far more consistent with the 975 L-FE. I have played about 15 rounds with the driver and I am starting to find my groove with this driver. In October of 2005, during my last round I hit 9 fairways of the 11 holes I used it. 1 of the 2 "misses" were less then 10 feet into the rough and the other miss was a really bad swing resulting in a lame duck hook. My drives averaged about 260 yards under soft conditions. Also, I had 1 drive of 330 yards back in June of 2005 and my percentage of 300 yard drives has gone up. The biggest change I found was distance on shots pushed to the right. I picked up at least 10 yards on pushed drives. I find the driver is less prone to NASTY hooks and the driver does not balloon. On center hits, the distance is slightly longer than the 975-D and my overall average distance has gone up. The driver has a beautiful pear shape and the driver sets up with a square face. The driver has very good feel and sound like all Titleist drivers and you can control the driver. However, I do notice the slight fade bias and I have a tendency to hit the right side of the fairway. Great set up, great looks, perfect boring trajectory, great control and great distance. Drivers are becoming like high tech equipment. Technology cannot perform miracles but it sure does help. You pay a premium for the latest and greatest and you can find a best bargains on drivers which are one generation old. It will be interesting to try the new "huge" drivers and see how far they go. Next, I would like to try the Mizuno MP-001 460 (replaced by MX-500), Taylor Made R510 TP (replaced by R7 TP) and Cleveland (good value among the new name brand manufacturers) Launcher 460 Comp drivers.

This driver is phenominal! Recently switched from Taylormade 540 to Titelist 975-D 9.5 and love it. Was getting rid of a couple of things that were gathering dust and traded for the 975L-FE at Golf Galaxy. A guy had let me try his 975L-FE on the course a couple of months ago and I liked it then. Since I wasn't going to be out any money and the readings at the launch monitor were good I decided to give it a try. Yesterday was my 2nd round with it and by the 5th tee, one of the guys I was playing said "So what's up? Are you just MR. AUTOMATIC off the tee or what? I knew I was hitting it well but didn't realize how well, given the windy conditions and being on an unfamiliar course. I reviewed my round this morning and realized that I hit 9 fairways of the 12 holes I used it. 2 of the 3 "misses" were less then 10 feet into the rough and 1 was in a fairway bunker. My drives averaged 264 yards. Yeah, I had 1 drive of 330 yards but the average was 260 all day long. The biggest change I found was the number of fairways I hit. The second thing I noticed was that I was plying from the center or right center of the fairway. I've been a consistent drawer of the ball for the last few years and prone to NASTY hooks. This driver is the "medicine" I was looking for. Great set up, great looks, perfect boring trajectory, great control and great distance. I will review again after I've had a few more rounds with it. Maybe golf isn't a game of recovery after all. That's the way I have been playing it, and now that excuse is out the window!

This has been the best and most inexpensive driver I have ever purchased. I fount it used on E-Bay for $60. It had moderate cosmetic damage, but was a wonderful buy. My 975L-FE has 10.5 degrees of loft and a stock Regular 60 shaft. That combination seems to be just right, even when I really "swing from the heels." I'm not the most consistent driver of the golf ball, but this club has really helped. It is not necessarily fade-biased, but misses usually turn out that way. I have hit my longest drive and shot my lowest round with this great club in my bag.

I seriously hope Titleist is going to give me a commission for all the posts I put up on this club...lol. I have been trying to convince myself all winter to get a new driver. I've gone to Golftown a dozen times, and every time I've found that perfect driver that gives me great distance and consistency. A day or two later, I return with my Titleist and compare it to this new wonder I've found. I almost changed it for a 2004 Big Bertha, gave serious consideration to a R580 XD, toyed with a Orlimar HipTi 420, and came withi inches of trading it on a Ping Si3. Guess what...Titleist is still in the bag. It would appear that every time I convince myself that I need a new driver, my old driver convinces me otherwise...I guess it knows something I don't. Seriously, this thing sets up beautifully for me. If you have the money and are looking for a new driver, there are great choices out there and enjoy the hunt. If you are looking for a high quality driver for a very reasonable price, the 975'S are on ebay, new and used, for a steal.

I shot a round of 40 on nine a couple weeks ago, including three drives over 300 yards...one around 335...this club is a monster...I wish they made 975 FE irons, wedges, putters, and balls!

This is a follow-up for the driver I purchased last fall. As it was a Christmas present that was bought then because it was on sale, I didn't get to use it last year...praise the Lord, the driving ranges opened here last week. The prognosis...this thing is awesome. It was by far the most consistently I have ever driven the ball in my life. The distance was respectable. I did not get the distance I get with the Hippo Giant I used too use, but I'm confident I will be in the short stuff a lot more often. I found a smoothe tempo swing gave the best results. I have a naturally high ball flight, but with this club I could actually work a couple different shots consistently. With a smoothe swing I was carrying around 260/270 with a slight fade.That is going to translate into one very wide smile on the course. The feel is solid, and the mid kick point stiff grafalloy shaft is perfect for me to keep the ball out of the stratosphere. I also made a couple not so great swings that flew off the top...not one knick in the paint.
