Summary:
Very impressive club that's provided another option from 205-215.

For a decade I've relied on a Cobra Oversize Offset 17 degree driving iron in that spot. But as I've moved into my late 40s the trajectory off the deck isn't as consistently high. Yesterday I was stuck behind three medium height trees and 235 yards out, in light rough. No way to venture right, and the left side was heavy rough. Since it was 25+ yards until the trees I tried my newly acquired 7 wood, with excellent results. I stabbed it like an iron with a small divot, my preferred swing off the turf, and it pierced the opening above the middle tree with a slight draw. My playing partner said, "That's a shot you've haven't had in a long time." It ended up 15 yards short, directly in front of the green.

Admittedly, that was my best contact with this club to date. But in several previous rounds I'm averaging 212 off the deck with a nice trajectory. The carts have a satellite link so distance is precise. Since I'm no longer a dependable thump with a driver, this 7 wood distance is beyond my expectation.

The Ovation 7 wood is confidence inspiring with the great looking Aldila NV green shaft, which works well with the grey clubhead. The green/black head cover is classy. And the offset is a plus. I've probably under valued offset over the years, despite my success with the driving iron. My only previous offset wood was a Cobra driver which was fantastic until the shaft snapped, and I never successfully replaced it with the same feel.

One thing I appreciate about this club: The three ball placement dots on the clubhead are set toward the heel, to the point an average player like me would be more likely to align the ball with the outer dot, and not the center one. I'm convinced my flush contact with this club is due to proper alignment, more toward the inside and the actual sweet spot, particularly since my current lousy tendency with every club is toward the toe.

I purchased this on eBay, combined auction with an Adams Low Profile 5 wood. Both R flex, but the Low Profile has a Prolaunch Blue. I wanted to compare those shafts and this was a convenient way to do it, at leisure and not short term in a fitting shed. Both have a nice soft feel and flight is similar. I'd be forcing a preference at this point, although the green is so damn cool..

The small clubheads on standard length fairway woods create a bit of an odd perspective. That's my only early beef. Every time I grab either Adams club my instinct is to choke down two inches so the relationship looks normal.

I've struggled a big out of heavy rough. This isn't a hybrid in that regard, and it will pop up if you ground the club in the deep stuff. Better to maintain ball level.

The previous owner had a tendency toward the toe, with moderate scratches just above the clubface. So the club appears vulnerable in that regard. I couldn't fix them with Quixx but I might try some light touchup paint.

Summary:
I have both the 3 and the 7 wood. Both are easier for me to hiot because of their profile, wide and slim. Currently, as of the date of this review, selling for $119 new at Dick's Sports. Even cheaper on ebay, new and used, but not many offered.
I have used and like the Nike CPR and Cobra Hybrid. All of these are easier for me to hit than the 2-5 irons.
If you are tired of battling with those irons, switch over to these newer-designed fairway woods and hybrids.

Summary:
Out of all the 5 woods i tested this one stands out. This club requires very little power to launch a very nice, clean shot. The offset has allowed me to get the ball up in the air alot easier also.
