Callaway Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods Review

Callaway Big Bertha Fusion

Description
Callaway Golf has announced the introduction of the new line of Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods to the United States market. Featuring proprietary Fusion Technology combining stainless steel with carbon composite to move weight to its optimal location in the clubhead, the new Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods bring the new science of distance with accuracy to the fairways. First launched in Europe and the South Pacific with great success in April 2005, the Fusion Fairway Woods feature the burnt orange and black graphics that define all the new woods in the Fusion line.

Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods

Summary:
My swing speed changed around the 1st of the year, after taking lessons from golf-tec. So, I needed to go to stiff shafts, and let go of the regular flex. I have the FT-IZ Driver 9 deg. w/a proflex stiff shaft. And my irons are the wide sole fusions that I just took the graphites off, and went with an added an inch longer stiff shaft, after being monitored by golf-tec. Just got the stiff flex big bertha fusion 3-5-7 woods, and "Oh My?"... Hit 2 balls w/3 wood in my paddocks by house into the wind with sandals on and no glove, and put them 5 feet apart from one another about 210 up hill into the wind. "Woo Hoo"! I'm a 9.9 on the GHIN index, but not for long now! ":)

Callaway Fusion 3 wood

Summary:
I purchased a Callaway ERC Fusion driver and it changed my game so much that I decided to purchase the Fusion 3 wood. I always hit my 3 wood well but I figured why not get a better one. I bought this on EBAY for $30 and it was a STEAL! These clubs are like rocket launchers! They go so high, far, and straight that I sometimes have a problem seeing them land. The feel of the shots during impact are amazing and I'll never switch again. Go buy this 3 wood and other Callaway woods. They've turned me from a high 90's player to a low 80's player almost immediately.

Callaway Fusion fairway wood

Summary:
Difficult to hit?

I can't see how these are difficult to hit. They go a country mile.

I have a 3,4,7 and 9 in the bag. I prefer the 7 and 9 to hybrids.

I was playing the Speed LD F speed in 3 and 5 wood with 2 hybrids and I went for the Fusion 4 wood on a whim.

After 1 round I switched for the Callaway fusion's.

I like them a great deal.

I play 5 days a week and post a 4.4 index on a 143 sloped private course.

fusion big bertha 5 wood

Summary:
I bought this wood after finding a deal, $100 with the Fujikura Fit On shaft. I love hitting this club off the tee. The shaft requires a smooth easy swing for max distance. The feel is muted due to the carbon crown. And the feedback is not as strong compared to other woods. Some may prefer a stronger, metallic feedback; but I like the feel of composite woods and can deal with this. Off the deck, this wood may be difficult to hit for the average golfer. The head is small compared to todays woods. The rich black appearance at address is awesome, but the size will provide little confidence for inconsistent ball strikers. Just remember with Cally woods (due to the bore thru design) to take the swing back low and very slow. Still adjusting to this wood.

Customer Service:
Callaway has been slow as of late. Usually very good with email responses.

Summary:
Well, I purchased this club for $100 brand new, with the intentions of reselling it at my club. Once it arrived I was curious so I removed the plastic and had a go. WoW! After 5 shots of the deck it was in my bag! Awesome club, off the tee, too.
