Shoots in the 80s Model Reviewed: Nike Sasquatch Sumo 24* 4 hybrid Summary: Hybrids were pretty new to me, so I tested many of the 2007-2008 models, until I hit one of these. Most of the models on the market are "hook machines" (with closed face angles and draw bias), so I hook the hell out of them, but not this one.
I had been using a 2007-2008 Mizuno CLK Fli-Hi in the 5 and 4 hybrids, but after I hit about 4 shots with one of these, it kicked the CLK 4 out of the bag. The CLK is a very good club, but I struggled to hit the 4 well (I'm still using the CLK 5, as it's excellent and the Sumo stops at 4 hybrid loft), but these sit about 2 degrees more upright (which suits my height much better- about 6 foot 2) and it's also a slightly better club.
These have a great curved sole shape, that goes through the turf very well and the feel at impact is fantastic and crisp. Then there's the ball flight. Long and straight and nice and high. The 4 plays at least as long as my old 3 iron and I really like the stock Diamana graphite shaft, which is noticeably stronger than the one in the "square" Sumo2 hybrid.
If they made these in the 5 and even a 6 hybrid, I'd have been playing them too, without a doubt. If I played more than once every couple of weeks and/or practised, I'd probably be using the 3 as well. Terrific club, very cheap, for some reason. Customer Service: Good on the phone. Very helpful at demo-days. Similar Products Used: Sumo2 (Easier to hit, but a "hook machine"). Ping Rapture, G10 (very good, but certainly not better- similar head size, sole not as good through impact, slight draw bias, sits flatter at address). Mizuno CLK Fli Hi (very good, very long), MX-700, MP Fli Hi (beautiful, great feel/performance). Titleist 585.H (great feel, harder to hit, hits shorter/lower). Callaway X, FT. Nickent 3DX Utility, 3DX RC (Hooked it). Cleveland Hi-Bore. Cobra Baffler DWS. Tour Edge Exotics CB2. Adams Idea Pro, A2, A3, Bridgestone GC
