Summary: Notice two things before I start this review. First, I have rated these clubs very highly. Second, I shoot in the 90's. I can break 90 sometimes, but I am not a low-handicapper.
I was playing with Cleveland TA-7s for a few years, and while I thought they were good clubs, I felt I needed a change. I played with a friend's 845 Silver Scots, and really liked the feel of the clubs. So I went on eBay and found a set of the 845 V-25 for $155.00. After reading the reviews on this site (I love this site) I bought them, not knowing whether I would even be able to hit them, since they are a forged blade, which common wisdom says are for low-handicappers.
Forget that common wisdom when it comes to these clubs. I have played with them eight times now, and like them more and more each time. Sure, the sweet spot is smaller, so slight mis-hits lose some distance. But not that much, and there is none of the jarring vibration I've felt with other forged blades I've tried. Most of the shots are very straight, with decent distance. I actually get less side spin with these clubs vs. the TA-7s. I don't know why, but I'll take it.
The Dynamic Gold S300 steel shafts seemed just a little stiff to me, and the ball flight was a little low. I lost about 10-15 yards overall vs. the TA-7s (which had regular Sensicore steel shafts). So I had the 6-iron reshafted with the True Temper Dynalite Gold SL shaft. Perfect. I've played with that shaft for three rounds now. Much better trajectory, with a higher ball-flight. Great feel. And my re-shafted 6-iron flies 10 yards further than the 5-iron with the DGS300 shaft. I'm ready to re-shaft all the irons.
Other notes:
I've always had trouble with hitting the TA-7s out of fairway bunkers. Now, it seems that I can't make a bad shot out of a fairway bunker with the V-25s. Maybe it's the thinner sole, or the lighter swingweight. I don't know, but I'll take a perfect shot out of the sand all day long, which seems to be the norm with these clubs.
I can't comment on the 3 and 4-irons, as I use hybrid replacements.
I can't really comment on the performance out of the rough, since the grass is dormant here this time of year, and the rough is not bad.
The small head and thin topline took a little getting used to, after hitting shovels in the past.
These are great clubs, if you are willing to accept a sweet-spot that gives you just enough "hey, you missed me!" without being overly penal. And gives you a very nice feeling when you make a good swing, and the ball flies off the face with a satisfying "click" and flies dead straight towards a little dance next to the flag.
I love these irons. I give them my highest rating. And the value rating is out of this world, since you can find them on eBay for CHEAP!
Customer Service: Don't know.
Similar Products Used: I've never really used any other forged blades. My last sets were Claveland TA-7s, and Cobra Gravity-Backs.

Summary: I have been using these clubs the majority of the summer and I have been very favorably impressed. I paid about $250 on ebay for 11 clubs in very good condition. The shaft is true temper dynamic gold S-300. No problem at all and much less stiff than the Rifle 6.0 shaft.
I was using Maxfli A10's in a R-300 and find these clubs just as solid through the longer irons (3-6) and even more playable than the A10 in the shorter irons. I now can hit consistent distances with my PW, SW and 60* LW. The gap wedge (51*)I still have not figured out since it seems to go as far as my PW.
Overall I have much more confidence in my iron game with the Tommy Armour forged irons. The only knock on the design is the number and logo is on the bottom of the club and the paint is easily lost as a result.
If you can find a used set in good condition I would not hesitate to pick them up...why use shovels on a stick when forged clubs give such a great feel and are not much more difficult to hit, even for this 11 handicapper.

Model Reviewed: Evo V-25 Forged
Summary: I’ve been playing the original Armour Evo V-31s for about 3 years - loved them but wasn't thrilled about the tri-gold shafts which varied weight and flex point in each club (lightest and highest flex in the 3-iron). I heard a critique of them before I bought them saying, “how much technology is too much technology”. After 3 years, I think I agree that evolving cavities in the heads and evolving characteristics in the shafts may be too much. The clubs were great and great looking but I wanted more consistency out of the shafts and less offset in the head. I wasn't sure if my game was ready for forged irons but $265 for a set in new condition - I couldn't pass up a good deal.
WOW! When I opened the box - I thought the V-31s were nice looking but these just blew them away. The V-25s some of the sharpest, classiest clubs on TODAY’s market (2004)! It’s a shame Armour moved away from this design.
These clubs are solid! They feel powerful in your hands and solid through impact. I feel like I don’t need to swing the club hard to produce results. I’ve only played 2 rounds but mis-hits don’t seem overly penalized in terms of distance so far. I also discovered that distancewise, I gained about 1/2 to 1 club length as I completely flew 2 greens - on my home course where I knew the yardage and club I normally play. Feedback is great (a little more muted than the V-31s which can feel “clangy” on mis-hits) BUT - Pure it and it’s like butter. Add all that together and you have confidence in your equipment. My second round out I shot a career low 9 of 39.
I’ve heard the V-31s are tough to play so I’m not expecting a huge learning curve to get used to the V-25s.
I think these clubs are getting a lot of great reviews. In “unplayed” condition at e-bay, I’ve seen them going for $300-$400. If you can find them for around $200 – I’d snatch them up.

Model Reviewed: V-25 Forged
Summary: Wanted to try a forged club but was concerned about not being good enough to handle. You shouldn't be concerned with these clubs if you can stike the ball well. Took a couple of rounds to get used to. Great looking and well balanced clubs. Compact head with thin top line compared to other forged irons I tried. Clubs definitely allowed me to feel what a good/bad hit was like so it made swing more consistent and scored better. Lowered handicap by 3 this summer. I bought two sets and like to True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 better than the Tri-Gold shafts. Tri-Gold shafts seem lighter.

Model Reviewed: armour 845 v/25 evo forged
Summary: These clubs will improve your game. I usally shoot the low 90's to high 80's. I was using very forgiving cavity back titanium insert irons with graphite shafts. I thought I hit the sweet spot 80 to 90% of the time. Wanted to buy forged clubs because I was starting to move the ball. When I got these I learned I really didnt hit the sweet spot as much as I thought. The first week I thought I was over my head. Within 2 weeks I fell in love with these clubs. I hit more greens, have more distance and accuracy with irons now. I used to use a 7 and 9 wood instead of long irons. I now use the long irons with confidence. I even bought an evo 1 iron. Difficult, but nice off a tee. I recently shot a 39 for nine holes on a difficult course. Slope 135, very narrow, lots of hazards. The feed back from these clubs has helped my game tremendously. You dont have to be great or arrogant to use these. These clubs rock. Dont be afraid. If you make good contact with a golf ball. these clubs are for you.
