Description From Ben Hogan Co:
"...the 1998 Apex Iron combines some of the best features of the '88 and '94 Apex models. The result is the feel and performance you would expect from a forged blade, incorporated ...
Review Abstract "Cosmetically these clubs are absolutely beautiful with flawless workmanship throughout the entire set." The Ben Hogan Apex is an "outstanding set of forged irons." Amazingly pure, soft yet solid feel at impact. Many players report vast improvement in their iron play with these clubs. Reported as "a little bit pricy, but worth every penny." "This is what the best club in golf feels like. This is the best iron out there."
Summary: I originally bought these on eBay because I wanted an inexpensive quality blade for practice. Then I got buyers remorse because these had the Apex 4 (stiff) shafts and I was accustomed to regular flex. To my amazement and utter satisfaction I found these to be deadly accurate and much easier to hit on the sweet spot than anticipated. I may actually play these rather than just practicing. Sweet for the money!

Summary: I like most things about these Hogan blades with the exception being the shafts. First off the irons are forgiving with a bit of offset and slightly larger heads than other blades I've played. I've played both the steel and graphite Apex 3 shafts. I do not like the iron shafts at all and suggest a different type than the Apex steel. The graphites are nice but not light feeling as things go. The feel is just right and maybe a notch below Mizunos. I know where I've hit each shot before even seeing the distance. Looks wise they are beautiful and among the finest. Overall with other shafts you can't go wrong with these. I have played others with less and more offset in blades. Nice topline and cambered soles keep from digging. With different shafts these are a 5 star set of irons no doubt about it. The steel Apex shafts are boardy and tough to get height with. Have played previous Hogans than these 2006 ones and these can be totally user friendly. If you check into shaft options these will be keepers.
Customer Service: Not needed.
Similar Products Used: All blades-KZG, Mizuno MP 14, MacGregor PMB, and Ram Tour Grind, my personal favorites.

Summary: THis past year i really dedicated myself to finding the right irons for me , i started out with spalding stainless steel vintage set i bought on ebay,at the time, equal to my game , irons good game bad , went to macgregor jtp custom set, off golf galaxy , not bad nothing major better, then traded those in for mp32, from a 100 yrds out , hit with the pitching wedge money on the green, liked the balance and feel of the mp32, kept hitting little to the left, got bold sold those on ebay, got me mp 37, very good club just wasnt making the contact like the mp 32 , was missing the mp 32, then went to golf galaxy, got me the apex muscle back blades brand for 299, really liked the look and hit them on the practice tee there , had to have them, felt really good, started wondering to myself why was i hitting them better then mp37 , mp 37 supppose to be the bomb, lined my apex and mp37 side by side , notice the mp37 had a more upright lie to them , thinking to myself maybe thats why i was pushing left, went to the golf course and boom, apex felt smooth, controlled, when you hit them on , they pop drop and stop on the green , amazing, when im pitching , or my short irons, on a one bounce im equal to the pin , guys were shouting that boy can chip, felt confident with these clubs like no other, the shafts seems a little less solid then the dynamic golds s300 on my mp37 like if you tap on them but they always delivered better then the dg s300 , the apex 4 shaft on the ben hogans are frequency matched which is a must have, there smooth look awesome , and really confident inspriing, buy them, they well help u get better since you have to work on precision, and the effort to be precise only makes you get better, to me cavity backs makes you have lazy habits, i need to get club fitted, i really need to get my lie adjusted also, not only for my hogan apex blades but for the mp 37 also then i feel both irons would deliver very well , hope this helped and good golfing . So if your having trouble with the direction of your shots i would really recommend getting fitted and also really check your lies on the club they may not fit your natural swing .
Summary: My golf coach taped up several different clubs covering up the entire club except for the face.
I had just come off a back injury I had just started to get serious about playing golf competitively.
Out of the 3 Clubs I had been hitting, one seemed more accurate, had a nice weighted feel to it that hit effortlessly over and around the pine.
When he took the tape off, I discovered that I was hitting a Hogan Apex Blade! I could not believe it.
Ever since then, I have described the Hogan Apex Blade as a fine tuned instrument that looks like it means business.
If you try to force a shot and put a lot of muscle into the club, you will be in for a long day with a lot of strokes.
However, if you let the weight of the club fall into the slot, the ball will effortlessly compress on the clubface rewarding you with control of the flight of the ball and the ability to spin when on a receptive green.
I disagree with many people who say that off center hits are disasterous. Acutally, since the club is so heavy, the weight of the club seems to carry the missed hits closed to the target than my playing companions.
So, if my putting is on, I am in contention more than my partners.
