Cleveland HiBore Hybrid Irons

Description
The new Cleveland HiBore irons. 3-PW set with a large club face, and an even larger back. The clubs look a bit unusual at address, but really hit the ball well. They have a nice soft pop on contact an...

Cleveland HB3 hybrid irons

Summary:
Do you like standard hybrids? If so do not miss the experience to check hybrid irons. They will improve your game. Being on the golf course if always nice but this clubs will make it even more amazing.
Started to play golf with Ping Zing FW woods (3,5,7) and Mizuno Widedec II irons (3-SW). In specific loved to play the irons and was satisfied with the results. As hybrids appeared I became a kind of "hybrid junky", using Taylormade Rescue Mid and Cleveland Halo(2-6). The hybrids worked magnificent for distance 120 yards and longer. Anything closer to the green became a mess as I totally lost the confidence to my irons.
It was time to think about new equipment. As a fan of standard hybrids I was relatively sure that hybrid irons are a good choice for me. Cleveland has the most experience with hybrid irons as they just launched the third generation. That is why I recently got a set of HB3 hybrid irons (4-SW), which are the follower of Hibore XLI hybrid irons.
I Played 3 rounds so far and can tell you it is amazing. If you like hybrids, this clubs turn into magic sticks. Clubs are easy to hit and have a nice fault tolerance. Pure fun regarding the excellent feedback, sound and feeling after a good full swing hit. WOW!!!
Nice distance from the fairway. Stroke with #4 so far makes it up to 180 yards.
So far I did use Cleveland XLS Fairway Wood #3 from the tee, but I still have problems to handle it. If fairways are narrow I am using the HB3 #4 and currently think about to use it always. Sure I am loosing some yards but more precise shots and fairway hits are more important.
Most amazing is that I feel extremely confident with a full or stronger PW, SW swing to approach the green (70-120 yards). Ball flies nice and high, exactly like you want to see. According to former hybrid irons reviews, a couple of people did not like the SW, PW. I do not understand, for me these clubs work very well. For closer approaches I prefer to keep using my 60° lob wedge. However softer swings with SW, PW also were ending up in some good results but require some more training.
Chips work also fine. You simply need to get a feeling for a kind of "hybrid-short-game". I yet cannot tell stories from the green bunker but one might prefer to keep using the standard wedges here.
I am totally satisfied with this clubs and happy that I made the decision to get them.

Who says a low handicapper shouldn't play these clubs?

I'm a 4 handicap senior golfer who played in the VA Senior Amateur this summer. Love these irons. Have played Mizuno, Ping, Titleist, Callaway and these are by far the best irons ever. Solid, high, and straight. Pinseekers, if there ever was one.

Summary:
I was an eighteen handicapper at the begining of the summer, these irons have got me downn to a ten. I play every fortnight so not that much. I have played on really hard fairways and the strikes have been good, i was told that because of the wide sole they might bounce off the turf but they did not. The wedge took a bit of getting used to because i was getting a low trajectory, but now i can control that. I would give these clubs a 9 out of ten, they have helped me so much.

I was using deep red fat shaft irons. The clevelands out performed them in every way.

Cleveland HiBore XLS

Summary:
I purchased a complete set (Irons Driver and 3W) back in May from Foxy Golf in Akron, OH. I got the A shafts as my swing has slowed over the years. I can't say they have made me ready for the Sr Tour but I really love the clubs. I am happy with everything except the wedge around the green. It really is kinda clunky. I am going to look into a different wedge for that. I am very happy with the clubs over all. I got the 10.5 degree driver and I think I should have gone with the 9 degree as my drives get up very fast now.

The irons stay straight and are very easy to hit. I actually need to change clubs now since I am hitting it farther.

Cleveland Hibore XLI Irons

Summary:
I recently purchased the XLI Hibores regular flex and I love them.

I am in my 24 and have been playing golf for about 6 years. I always hit hybrids well, so I decided to try these. I bought a new set with head covers 3-pw for $700.

Cleveland has a great special, if you buy a set of irons this year, if you want, you can send them in next year for a new model of any Cleveland Iron for FREE. This really appealed to me because these irons are different (all hybrids) and I didn't know if I would like them so I figured try them for a year and if I don’t like them I could send them back next year and get a regular set of irons.

Before I tell you how these irons play you need to know my previous set of irons was a Knight set from Wal-Mart. Driver, fairway woods, and hybrids were Cobra LD speeds and Cobra Bafflers.

As for the Hibores, easier you swing straighter and longer these irons go. I hit the 3 hybrid between 220 and 230. I have a SkyCaddie so I track my distances so my yardages are true (no exaggerations). Honestly the 3 iron is my most consistent distance so far. Irons like the 7 are going up to 170 which is about a 20 yard improvement for me. The middle irons are giving me a little bit of difficulty because they are going +-20 yds or so. But I have only played 27 holes with them so I am sure they will get dialed in.

I really like the short irons. I am 5’9” and the shaft length and flex (Regular) fits me great. I feel so confident standing over them and they fly so high and straight. I even got a couple of short irons to stop and back up a few inches. I don’t use the PW for anything but full shots. I have other wedges for that.

No big slices, no duck hooks everything is consistent. I basically made a decision that I know I am never going to play PGA golf so why not just play only Hybrids. I only carry these Irons and 3 CG10 wedges and an odyssey two ball putter. No fairway woods, no driver and no other hybrids.

I played yesterday evening and shot an 80, 10 over (putting everything in, counting penalty strokes, playing from the blues). My most consistent round ever. One double bogey, eight bogeys, and nine pars. Everything stays in fairways. It’s such a stress free way to play golf. Previous rounds this year have been between 85-95 score with a lot more scrambling.

My driver only goes about 240 but much more inconsistent (I fight a re-occurring slice). I just don’t have a reason to pull it out of the bag. It sounds weak to only hit 230 off the tee and I am sure I will get some jabs for only hitting “old man hybrids” but honestly most golfers don’t hit it much more that 230 off the tee with a driver anyway. Let them go play in the rough with their 240 or 250 drives. I will take my 230 in the fairway any day.

I’m not fancy golfer I am not trying to work the ball or hit fades and draws, so I can’t say if this set is good for that or not. But if you just want to swing easy and hit it straight. These are the clubs.

I just really enjoy how every club in my bag swings the same. When you carry irons, hybrids, woods, driver and wedges, you have to have 5 different swings all working. Not me. Just Hibores and wedges. Easy GOLF!

With Cleveland’s special offer where you can send these back next year and get a new set of something else for FREE, there is no reason why shouldn’t try these.

Knight irons (not bad irons, played for six years and I hit them as well as most guys hit expensive sets). They were just wearing out. Driver, Fairway woods, and Hybrids all Cobra Speeds and Bafflers. Cleveland CG10 wedges and Odyssey and ping putters.
