Summary: Recently picked up a 3-PW new set of the "Newer" model Liquidmetal irons off Ebay for $199 plus shipping. Nice price, considering they went for around $1,000 when Liquidmetal was still in business...
Irons came with SES R flex graphite, which makes for a swing weight that is a little on the light side, but not too bad... feel is crisp, very nice. Distance is slightly above average. Pretty good forgiveness, midsize head has the Liquidmetal insert, so I hope there are no breakage problems with these...
If you are looking for a very good set at a reasonable price of $199, these are worth a go... probably not worth the $1,000 original tag, but now... yes. I think they feel better than the original model. Newer design is more of a cavity back vs a near blade.
If you like a lighter swing weight, these might be "the ones".

Similar Products Used: These are pretty unique, maybe the ti face irons like the r7 XD would be close, as they are also light. These compare well.

Model Reviewed: Liquid Metal Irons
Summary: I purchased the Liquid Metal irons direct from the manufacturer after following Paul Azinger around at the Bob Hope Desert Classic one year and seeing him use them. He hit them great, and I wanted them from that moment on. They have been great clubs for me, and I have used them for many years now. I have never had one break, or had any issues with their integrity. There was a warning from the manufacturer about not having a pro shop bend them to change the loft. I never did, and never had a problem. Maybe others did and had their problems because of it.
Customer Service: Never had a problem, and never needed to use them after the initial purchase.

Summary: About 4 years ago I stumbled upon the liquidmetal driver in a pro shop and just had to have it. Then I had to have the whole set, so $1,600 later I had the best set of clubs money could buy. NOT. I broke five clubs, all in the same place. At the hozel. Held up play numerous times searching for the head, and had to stop everyone at the driving range one time to run out and retrieve the head of my 8 iron. Then one morning on the first hole I hit a beautiful drive down the center of the fairway, and when I was putting the driver back in the bag I noticed something was wrong..no face plate. Well they did fix all the clubs until they went out of business. It was a nightmare. Never Again
Customer Service: The one gal I delt with was great until she left, probably tired of all the disgusted coustomers, Next time I called I got a message saying they were no longer in business. What a waste of money.
Similar Products Used: PEOPLE dont EVER buy Liquidmetal clubs.. Trust me. I wish I could give them less stars

Model Reviewed: LIQUID METAL IRONS
Summary: I bought a set of liquidmetal irons back]
in the 90's and won our club champion ship. Over the years I have had over 20 sets of irons from blades to calaways. Now that I am 60 and shoot in the high 70's I wanted to get my game back. I found
the fellow who bought them from me and he gave them back to me. I am back in the low
70's and my 7 iron went from 140 yards to 160 yards. These clubs are the best, they have the original graphite shafts, even had the original grips (which I changed.) The only problem with them is with the wedge the ball jumps off the club and 1/2 shots are difficult. Regardless of handicap anyone can hit these irons 5 out 5
Customer Service: I have never had an issue with these clubs
when I orginally bought them or now.

Summary: These are truly the Jekyll and Hyde of golf clubs.
The driver and irons feel and play great. Very long and forgiving.
Then, after just a year, they fall apart. First a six iron head split into three, followed swiftly by a five iron. A bubble in the metal, said the pro.
Then a five and a six iron shaft snapped about four inches from the head. Same thing with the eight iron. Finally, the face of this once great driver popped straight out. Unrepairable.
Liquidmetal were a nightmare to deal with here in the UK. They replaced one club and then disappeared off to a Euro HQ in Germany where they pretended not to speak English. My local pro did the best he could by begging and borrowing demo clubs from fellow pros but my set's no longer a set! They'd be great clubs, if only they didn't keep breaking. P.S. They're now only three years old.
PPS Can anyone recommend a great set for a 4-handicap 50 year-old?
Customer Service: The worst after sales service ever!
They obviously realised they had a problem with cracking heads and I hear they're no longer in the golf business. I'd love to hear from someone at the company to explain why they became uncontactable.
Similar Products Used: None. Liquidmetals are incomparable.
