Shoots in the 80s Model Reviewed: MacGregor M85i irons - 2010 Summary: Got a chance to play a few rounds with these irons. The most recent irons I have played with in the last year are as follows, TM R7TP, Cleveland CG Gold,X22's, Ping i15, Adams a7. So far, these are the longest irons out of the bunch. I know my distances, I play at least 4 times per week (I work at a country club). And these are getting me about 5-7 yards more per club. These irons are also very accurate and forgiving. They are in the game improvement category, but not super-game improvement. I do not like the thick top lines and wide soles on a lot of the new game improvement clubs. HI have to say though, these clubs are on the brink, they are right on the border for my taste, you have to go to a store and look for yourself. But, it didnt take long to get used to. The X22's are the next bulkiest out of the group I have tried, but I couldn't get past it with those, they were just too bulky. But for most of us that can't hit blades, you will love these. They're hot with a nice sweet spot and you know when you hit a good shot. I am not sure if you can work the ball with them that much. I have only played a couple rounds, and I only shoot in the high 80's so it's rare that I try to shape a shot around some crazy tree, under a house, over a dog, left of a car and onto the green. I am more of a straight shooter.
Anyway, you can see the list of irons I have hit within the last 2 years. They are all top of the line irons. And I can say I put a good swing on all of them, all have their pros and cons. And if you can't hit an 9 iron close to the flag, then you probably have swing issues and not club issues. However, I do LOVE these new 2010 MacGregor irons. They perform as well or better then all the irons I first listed. Lesser known name, but who cares, they also look sweet in the bag!!
