MX-200 irons

Summary:
These are b*tchin' irons!!! Like many of you, after reading all the reviews on this site I got confused, because every iron and driver on here is "the best". Everyone has a different swing, it's merely a matter of what looks good to YOUR eye at address. If you feel comfortable over the ball, you'll most likely make a good swing with good results.

To get a perspective, I have owned and/or demoed the following irons before concluding that MX200's are the best irons for me:

Cobra FP, Cleveland gold, TM R7 tp, Hogan Apex Edge, Exotics CNC forged, Callaway X, Callaway X22, Ping i15, Adams a7, Macgregor m85 Tourney, Titleist AP2, Titleist AP1-710.

All of these irons are good, during many rounds of golf I have hit a great shot with every single one of these iron sets. With a good lie, and a good look, I could hit any one of these sets' 9 irons a few feet from the pin. However, none felt like they were 100% "me". Until I came upon these MX-200's, they just have this beautiful feel you get from a forged iron, it's so amazing and pure and buttery and great. Yet these irons are also forgiving enough for most players. (beginners are probably going to still need to look for a wider soled, super game improvement iron) Distance is fine, no better, no worse then most leading iron brands, but with irons, that's usually not the most important factor.

YOU might find some other irons better, My best golfing buddy that I play with 3 times a week loves his Callaway's, another buddy swears by his Bridgestones, and another loves his Titleist's. But at the end of the day, we all play about the same number. For me the MX200's are the winner! It's the first time in a while that I dont "look" at other iron sets when I walk into a golf shop. Or get the urge to hit a new cool iron set in the simulator. Now I just check out the new hybrids and wedges.

My other favorite irons in order from best to worst are, new 2010 Macgregor m85 Tourney, Titleist AP1 710's, Ping i15's, Cleveland golds......

Try every iron set out there before you buy, eventually you will find your MX200's. Good luck in your hunt for your new irons.

mizuno mx-200

Summary:
I bought the MX-200's after playing the Calloway X-18 irons for about four years. Unlike with the Calloway's, I got professionally fitted which definitely makes a difference- the analysis of my swing and clubs indicated that the lie was a little too flat, explaining why so many of my shots pushed left (I am left-handed) even on what felt like a perfect swing.

I have played the 200's for about four rounds now and absolutely love them. I have never hit a straighter or more consistent ball- particularly with my mid-irons 6-8. I got them adjusted +2 degrees on the lie (Mizuno is known to be a flatter club and I have a very upright swing) and paired them with the KBS FST shafts-stiff flex. Amazing combination. Despite the club weight being notably heavier than my X-18's, the balance is perfect and I have the confidence to release fully. The ball flight is medium-high; very similar to the X-18 but more consistent, and a bit further.

I view the Calloway irons as excellent clubs, and suspect I would have played much better with them had I been fitted. But I cannot say enough about the feel of these Mizuno irons- great clubs. And they are gorgeous as well.

mizuno mp200

Summary:
i bought mp200s last year, but after custom fitting and paying for them, found i just could not hit them out of the sweet spot, desparate, i went back to my old ping zings, last night i thought i must get use to them and went back down the range, after hitting a couple of poor shots, the guy next to me said move the ball position, i could not believe it, great ball flight, crunching the ball, played 9 this morning, went round in 1 over, it seemns to me that when poor shots creep in, it really is just a simple thing of maybe stance, grip etc, long may it last!

Mizuno MX200

Summary:
After reading hundreds of reviews on the best iron set (and got confused), I finally decided to buy the Mizuno MX200. After start playing golf just last year, I still shot in the 100s, and sometime I got in the 90s. Last March 2010, I bought the MX200 with regular steel shaft. After trying them in the driving range, I put this masterpiece to the test. I felt so confident using the MX200. Those reviews about the MX200 were all accurate. Simply to say, the MX 200 has gread feeling and at the sametime forgiveness. After 4 games over two week periods of playing with the MX200, my score improved to upper 80s /90 with ease. The feeling and forgiveness of Mizuno MX200 is unbelievable. So for those high handicapers who want to better improve your game, you should seriously consider Mizuno MX200. Its just perfect for me (after using the TM Burner before) now I can score constantly in the mid to high 80s (just after 2 months using it). I am looking forward to scoring to low 80s and this club still can do it for me. Believe it or not, I do believe it ! Thanks Mizuno.

Mizuno MX 200

Summary:
For 3 years I played Mizuno MX 23 clubs. I got my handicap down to 14 and figured it was time for a “players” set of clubs. I settled on a set of Callaway X20 Tours. For all of last season, I struggled to break 90.

I have played a few rounds this year and decided a change was needed. I went to a local range with the intention of trying all of the leading brands again. However, the first club that I picked up was the new Mizuno MX 200. After about five swings, I realised what I was missing. I hit each ball straight, high and where I aimed; something that I haven’t been able to do all year. I didn’t bother hitting any of the other clubs, I simply arranged a custom fit for Thursday for the MX 200s. These are seriously easy clubs to hit.

I have also read a lot about the comparison between these and the MX23s. When you look at the two clubs, there is not much different. Maybe my view is coloured by the year with the Callaways, but I believe that these are easier to hit than the MX23s.

At my level of golf, I am not interested in “working the ball” and I believe any golfer in the mid-teen and up handicap level that talks about moving the ball is basically talking crap and maybe if they concentrated on hitting the ball straight, their handicaps may come down.

I have to believe that any of the bad reviews of these clubs are simply down to the man at the other end of the club, I know that if I persisted with the Callaways, I am sure that they would have come round, but I just don’t have the time for that effort. Therefore if you are like me, you have kids, work and want to enjoy your Sunday fourball at a low teens handicap level (or better if your ability is better than mine) with little or no effort, then have a serious look at these clubs.
