Summary: I just picked these up at a real bargain as the G10 is the current model. Spec-wise on Ping's site, there's not much difference between the G5's and G10's. I've only played one round and have been to the range a handful of times, but I can already tell I made a good decision. Before these, I played the Taylormade R7 Draws, and the extreme offset of those clubs never suited me. The G5's have the typical bit off offset found in a game improvement iron, and visually just seems right to me. Some complain about the boring look of these irons. Who cares? Unless you're a pro queued up on swing vision, you'll never see the club head when it really counts. And if that's the case you'll be playing something different anyway. I want to play clubs that inspire confidence and take shots off my high handicap. For that purpose, Ping is the best in the game. On a side note, my first round with these I was playing with one of my usual playing partners, and he consistently hits his irons longer than me. We both took 5 iron off the tee on tough dog-leg and I out drove him by 15 yards on what looked like identical shots. Through just one round, I'm hitting the G5's more purely than any iron I've owned. Oh, and they're made in the good ole USofA. That's important to me.

Summary: TM r7D irons are absolutely terrific clubs; long accurate and easy to hit. Best club out there for mid-hcpers .... until PING put out the G5!!! I've been playing the TM's for a couple of years but, two weeks ago, I played with a friend who was hitting Ping G2's. Of course, we hit each other's clubs and I immediately wondered why I sold my old Ping Eye2's in the first place. The G2's were nice but, after looking at the G5's and G10's, I knew what was coming next. At the local Golf HQ's, I found G10's and two sets of leftover G5's. Since I didn't want to spend the bucks on the G10's, I bought the G5's. Took them out and have played three rounds with them. After all the different clubs I've played, I find it ironic that I would end up with the same brand I started with. I can't say this emphatically enough, if you want my Pings, you'll have to pry them from my cold dead hands!!! Great company, another great product .... all mid-high hcpers should find these irons a blessing; the game is fun again.
Customer Service: The guy at Golf HQ kind of blew me off for the fitting but, since I had gotten fitted previously (standard lie, reg. steel shaft), I didn't complain too much. He just wanted to make the sale and I just wanted to get to the course.

Summary: After starting with Mizuno EZ irons I felt that I needed to change to irons that would better suited to a high handicap. I've tried several and settled on the G5's which I managed to get a set off ebay which were in excellent condition. The standard lie suits me well and I've managed to get below the 100 (not too bad as I've only been playing for 12 months) These irons inspire confidence and are very easy to hit. I think I'll be sticking with them for the foreseeable future..
