Precept Tour Premium Cavity Back Irons Review

Precept Tour Premium Cavity Back

Description
Building on the tremendous success of the Precept Tour Premium forged irons, Precept has engineered an iron of equal quality standards and playability for the mid-handicapper. With the lethal combination of the flexibility of a forging, and the forgiveness of a perimeter-weighted offset iron, the Precept Tour Premium CB (Cavity Back) irons build confidence in any golfer’s game. Specifically engineered to encourage optimal ball flight, the long irons have nickel tungsten inserts in the trailing edge of the more difficult to hit long irons. The Tour Premium CB iron’s slight offset, longer heel to toe length, and more visible top line provide a “players” club look yet performs with more forgiveness.

Precept Tour Premium CB Forged

Summary:
I typically play TM 300 forged irons and have bought a few sets over the last ten years. I have always wanted a set of these Precepts and recently got a new set for $150! Hands down one of the best iron sets ever made and even though the model is over a decade old now, they are as good or better than any forged out right now. These irons are best suited for advanced ball strikers. They have a MB/Blade look from the top line and seem 2 deg. upright, with a very slight offset;they want to draw. I think I will get mine bent to standard. The shafts are TT Dynalite S300's. My TM's were Nippon 1150 GH and I was concerned about ballooning and dispersion. The TT shafts give this club an amazing balance and swing weight and perform very well with this head. You can feel the club head perfectly and the Japanese forging rewards good strikes with a slice of toast with buttah! Trajectories are mid to high, with very penetrating flights. Distances are very consistent and spins are controlled and hold greens well, even in the long irons. If you can find a set in mint condition and abiding to the new groove change is not a concern, these clubs are to be considered. They are as beautiful an iron as you will ever find and flat out perform.

Precept Tour Premium CB

Summary:
I typically shoot bogey golf, sometimes plus a few strokes. I hadn't shot in the 80's since an 84 back in 2006, but I felt like I can get there with these clubs. After a few rounds I realized they are quite forgiving. As a result I stopped compensating during my swing in situations where I know I will normally goof up and let the technology of the club do the heavy lifting for me. I am particular about looks in a club as they must inspire confidence when you stand over a shot. These have a nice thin top-line and are certainly a bit larger than my Mizuno MP-30's, but you don't notice it from address. Soft feel and great game improvement technology in the long irons, make these the absolute best choice for someone who wants pro looks, forged feel and significant game improvement technology all in one club. Oh, and please get the right shaft for your swing or these and any other clubs will feel like swinging a 2 x 4.

Precept CB

Summary:
I went to the golf store looking for a set of forgiving callaway big berthas .... however once i got looking around i saw the Precept CB's and gave them a try. Compared to the Big Bertha's I was hitting the CB's 5 yards longer. I had a much tighter shot pattern. I could even hit a draw if i wanted to with these clubs and thats saying alot since i only fade the ball! What surpirsed me the most was the forgiveness that the cb's gave compared to the big bertha's. However i should note that i couldn't hit the 3 & 4 irons consistently at all! So i purchased a Callaway heavenwood 3 iron that is just fantastic.

Great player irons with some game improvement features.

Summary:
excellent quality clubs. For me the shafts were too whippy to get a great feel for them. I am just starting to shoot in the 80's and I think these clubs were just a bit to workable for me. I need a little bit more forgiveness from my irons. I think a low to mid handicap would be thrilled with this set.
paid 219 canadian for a mint used set.
