I've been paying these irons for over a year now and still love them. Normally I don't believe the reviewers claims of getting an extra 10-20yds with their new clubs but i'm definitely getting an extra 10yds. (6 iron 155yds) but this is due to the stronger lofts. The launch angle is high for the stronger lofts, so havened experienced any difficulty in getting these in the air.
I'm a bit suprised that some reviewers find impact harsh, as i've found that the titanium face inserts tend to produce a softer feel (although you will feel heel and toe miss hits). The stock TM grips are useless and have been replaced with golf pride dual compounds.
Have recommended these clubs to my mates. May not be the latest models but these would be extremely hard to beat. Can be got on ebay cheap.

Compared the following at the range. Ping g5's (not as forhgiving as I'd hoped), Callaway fusions (also with titanium inserts). TMs much better at half the price.

Easy clubs to swing. Produce a soft hit feel and have given me about 5 to 7 yds further over all thoughout the set. Great looking, but also have a wonderful feel. Hard to find a used set as nobody will give them up...check around...if you find...buy them.

First time player of TM's irons, previously played Cobra SSi. Liked Cobras, but was wasting time at golf shop and hit the XD's and was amazed at the extra distance it was telling me. I know TM are strong on loft, but Cobra also is strong as far as loft goes. I picked up 6 iron of the XD in demo bag and tried it and was amazed at the extra distance I got compared to the SSi. I picked up a set new on ebay for under $300. After playing them, there is no doubt the extra distance (one & half to two clubs more per stick).

The only two draw backs I would say is the harsher feel and the distance gaps between some clubs. All in all great clubs, just wish the feel was a little softer.

Well i've just bought these in excellent condition second hand (ebay) there my first set of good quality clubs also the first set that fit me (2* upright 1/2 " longer).

I've been on the range with these quite a bit trying to get a feel for them. I played mizuno clubs previously (early 90's starter kit) so this was a big change for me.

firstly the top line of these clubs is quite thick (not as thick as some game improvement irons i've seen) but to be honest this doesn't bother me 1 bit! these really are lovely looking irons.

I've noticed (as i think someone else already reviewed) that in order to get the best out of these irons I had to "go for the shot" a bit more... 80% swings really don't seem to cut it...where as a good committed full swing really rewards!
although this could have something to do with the dynamic gold s400 shafts needing a good swing speed.

I've always hit a high ball and even with the stiff shafts the hight and distance i'm getting are great, 8 iron 165-175 7iron 170-180 ish.

I've purchased an A wedge and L wedge and I believe most people would benefit form this (so don't forget to add it into your budget)

I find these clubs workable (not that I do it much) but can draw and fade when the mood takes me.

The good sized head and weight positioning on the clubs makes them quit forgiving...but don't expect miracles!
Off centre strikes stay reasonably straight but distance will suffer 20-25 yard loss on my 8 iron.

I'm hitting better long irons than even before (although i'm playing more now) 4 irons hitting the 200-210 mark.

To sum up i think you need to be a good striker of the ball to get the best from these irons. I wouldn't pay the new price but second hand there a real bargin!

All I can say is WOW. Easily the most forgiving irons I have ever hit. Perfect for game improvement. I had a ball buried in thick rouch @ 165 yd. Pulled the six iron, and landed the green without even feeling like I hit it solid. WOW. Took multiple strokes off of my game the first round i used them

Have been using these clubs for a year now..I used to have Taylor Made RAC LT's which although great I found a little inconsistent and a bit heavy..the R7 XD's are a game improvement club but are aimed at all levels..I really rate them..they are light weight, easy to swing and very forgiving without sacrifising too much feel, and they pack a fair punch, I hit the ball much further with these and because of the light weight have more control and accuracy. I feel you have to be a reasonable ball striker though to get the best out of them, you have to hit into the back of the ball correctly for them to fly, they do not perform so well at all if you take any turf first, so I would put them in the handicap range of 10 to 18. I would prefer them with slightly less offset, but thts the way it goes. To sum up, I could highly recommend these to someone who strikes the ball well but needs extra distance with acuracy...would suit quality seniors and juniors very well.
