TaylorMade Rescue Irons

TaylorMade Rescue Irons

DESCRIPTION

Taylor Made says: Ideal weight distribution makes all the difference. And we achieve it by attaching a curved, high density tungsten sole plate to a lightweight titanium clubhead. The resulting ultra-low center of gravity puts a full 75% of the weight below the equator of the ball at impact.

I took golf up seriously about 12 months ago, bought a second-hand set of these about 8 months ago. I have a full set of irons 1-SW with the sensicore R400 shaft. It took a while to get used to these irons with the oversized head as I was hacking around with an old set of blades before. I have to say that it is only now that I am fulfilling any potential with these clubs. I've gone from hitting in the 100's, down to 90's and last week hit an 84 at my local course. The thing you must do with these irons is trust them to get the ball off the ground for you. The heavier 400 shafts I have encourage me to swing slower which was my biggest fault. Now I feel much more in control and the ball flight is just beautiful - high and straight until the last 30-40 yards with the long irons then the ball lands nice and softly. I have only just noticed the difference in loft between the SW and PW that a few reviews talk about. I am now looking to get a LW to fill the gap. If I do play badly with these It's very easy to blame the equipment rather than my swing, as all golfers do - but I must admit perhaps they do feel a little heavy and clumpy at times which has put some thoughts in my mind about moving on to the MX Mizuno range. However until I feel the need to start working the ball left or right I'll just keep hitting the ball long and straight with these. It is extremely difficult to hook or slice these irons, sometimes I top my shots but even then the ball comes off the head as straight as an arrow ! If you're looking for a good set of irons to get your golfing career off to an enjoyable start then go and get a set of these, you will not regret it !

I always have problem with my woods and long iron. Getting to those long par 4s and 5s is always my problem. Not anymore. Since I got this club, I ditched all my woods and long irons. For me this club is extremely easy to hit and very solid. Although it goes not as far as my woods, it keep my ball in play. I also like the sharp 'ting' sound produce by its titanium face. The orange color make it looks cool too. Make me feel young at heart as well.

This is the second rescue club I've bought and its a big improvement over the Tour edge. The head is small and heavy and easily cuts through the rough. The ball launches on a medium trajectory lower than a equivalent fairway wood. I was a little surprised by how far it goes about the same as a 3 iron. Impact is solid and pleasant more wood like than iron like and its responsive enough to chip around the greens with. On the negative side The head is both off set and toed in making Playing a fade an impossibility and good players hows bad shots are hooks are going to hate it. But for the majority it will produce consistent draws even from heavy rough.

i find it hard to believe there are so many positive reviews for this club. ok first time i hit it I was very impressed. but since then i cannot get the club to perform consistently and i have really tried. the only way i can now shoot less than 80 is to make sure i am not tempted to use either my 3 or 4 rescue. i play links golf on a pretty tough course. my taylor made 4 wood does the business but these rescues are for the chop this week. my taylor made 580xd driver works as does my mx23's but these rescues are badly named, for me anyway. message to would be buyers. don't make my mistake and believe the hype. try before you buy and do not just try once. take your time and play a few shots over a few weeks, preferably on the course. next stop for me will be mizuno hi-fli.

Customer Service

not impressed with rep's knowledge. i asked for a club to replace a 7 wood and he recommended a 5 rescue. it only went 165/170, same as a 5 iron. so i insisted it be changed once i had phoned taylor made hot line to check what they would recommend.

I can't say enough about this club. I own an 18 degree. I purchased a new rescue mid from TaylorMade and hated it. Went back to Golfsmith and saw this used for $119.00. Bought it and loved it. Very easy to hit, great trajectory, and the ultimite alternative to long irons! Thank you TaylorMade! Lower your scores and avoid the pressure of hitting a good long iron by buying one of these babies. Good luck with your game!!!

I have only been playing a little more than 1 year. Although I never had a lot of trouble hitting a 3 or 4 iron, I had read so much about the new utility clubs, I decided to see for myself. I bought this club about a month ago, and all I can say is thanks to all of you who wrote reviews on this club. I also bought a Kasco K2K 55 (on sale for the same price), and at this time, there is no comparison. Although the Kasco has more hype, I have had great results with this club. The clubhead is a little heavier than the Kasco, so I "feel" it better while swinging. If you have lost some swing speed, the Kasco may be better as the clubhead is very light. The ball flies with either club. Unless you are a single digit handicapper you are making a mistake in not at least trying one of these clubs. Why go crazy trying to hit a 3 iron, or worrying about whether your lie is good enough for a 3 or 5 wood when you have a club that is more versatile and will hit the ball just as far? As soon as I can find either club in a 15 or 16 degree loft with the right type of shaft, I will buy it (Note that the K2Ks are being closed out and are getting hard to find). As I said, I like the Taylor Made Rescue better. The ball flies long and straight. Good solid feel. Easy to hit from any lie. Believe the hype. Once you've used any of these utility clubs you can take the long irons and even some woods out of the bag.

This club is by far the most versatile in my bag. Just as advertised, it is exceptional for getting out of poor lies, and provides the distance from the rough that I simply cannot get with a lofted club. I am by no means a great ball striker, but rarely do I fail to make solid contact with this club. The rare poor shot usually comes from an overswing, which is (I have to remind myself), unnecessary with this one. A nice, easy swing provides a long, mid-level ball flight. My only difficulty with the club was right after I purchased it; as a hybrid, I wasn't sure where to play the ball in my stance. After a session on the range, I found that I make the best contact with the ball played just forward of center, much like playing a long iron. In fact, I use this club in place on a 2 iron. I would highly recommend this club even if you never took a full swing with it. It is great for chipping, and the easiest club with which to punch out that I've ever used. Before I bought this, I would often use a mid-iron to punch out of trouble, but often top the ball trying to make solid contact. Again, this is alleviated as an easy stroke (I play this shot with my hands at the bottom of the grip) can advance the ball considerably. This is also a great tool for fairway bunkers, and without having to make any swing adjustments. And if you're not a tremendous long iron player, this one's perfect for your long par 3s.

WOW! This club is making my bag lighter and my score lower. Im far from a scratch golfer, but this club sure makes me feel like one. With a nice easy swing, I'm able to make the ball FLY! On grass or on a low tee, this ball gets UP. Then, when it hits the ground it keeps going much further than my long irons. The flight length is only a little bit longer than my 3 iron (when I can hit it well, which isn't often), but it's a HECK of a lot straighter and MUCH more forgiving. It was a little pricy for one club, but maybe thats because Im a broke student. This club is making me even MORE broke because I want to get out there and play every chance I get. Ive taken out my 3 and 4 irons, as well as my 3 and 5 woods. And when I play exec. courses, this is the longest club I bring. It is simply a joy to hit. I think you all should try this club and see for yourself. It makes me want to drop all my classes, quit work and just play. (And hopefully get my score out of the triple digits real soon)
