Titleist DCI 990

Summary:
Great set of Irons! After playing TA 845's for the past 12 years, I figured it was time to "step-up" to a better set of Irons. Since I'm not one to go drop $800-$1,000 on golf equipment, I went shopping online. I purchased my 990's (3-PW) for $100. What a steal! The irons are a perfect combination of a blade and cavity-back. The responsiveness of the clubs will inevitably help any golfer "feel" their mis-hits without compromising results - something that most OS, cavity-backed irons won't do (they tend to mask all off-center hits). They've added 10 yards to all of my (good) iron shots. As other reviewers have noted, these clubs make it extermely easy to work the ball. I can't believe I waited this long to switch to top-performing irons like the 990's. However, if you have never played blades before (I went through the traumatic experience of learning the game with blades in the early 80's), or are a high-handicapper, they may not be for you. You definitely won't be rewarded for off-center hits, but when you make solid contact on the sweet-spot the results are awesome. Highly recommended for anyone who shoots scores 90 and below.

Customer Service:
There's a reason titleist is, "The #1 name in golf...." Having dealt with them in the past, they are extremely interested and concerned with their customer-base.

Titleist 990 Irons

Summary:
I have played every club in the book. I have yet to find any club that comes anywhere near the playability and classic look of the 990 iron. I have recently sent them in for polishing and new Lamkin grips as I feel replacing these babies would be a mistake. TITLEIST really have a winner even in an old product!!!

Customer Service:
Customer service is alway's a talking point. The support from ACUSCHNET South Africa is brilliant. Congrats to Bo Barnard and his Team.

Titleist DCI 990

Summary:
My handicap is 21, and was unsure whether these irons would work for me; however I bought them from ebay and gave them a go. Did they work or what! I have never been able to properly hit long irons before, even on my game-improver set! Now I am consistently hitting my 3iron around 200-220yds and can work the ball easily. The clubs are fitted with Rifle 6.0 shafts, and was told that these may be too stiff, however they are not what so ever. They feel smooth and soft, and you can really feel the effect of the mid-kick point. Absolutely great irons, a serious buy for anyone from a mid handicap below!

Summary:
I bought these for $81 at Golf Galaxy 3 weeks ago. Since then, I have shot 75, 75 and 79. The only reason for the 79 was bad putting and a drive out of bounds. I was a little concerned when I bought these because instead of Dynamic Gold they were equipped with the Titleist Tri Spec stiff shafts. I actually love the shafts and they give me the perfect ball flight. These clubs have a nice soft feel to them. In addition, the 990 irons are much more accurate than my former Ping Eye 2 irons. I love these.

Summary:
I am a 2 handicap that was looking for a lower ball flight and workability. These clubs fit the bill perfectly. Had them bent 2 degrees flat to fit my one plane swing. Absolutely love them. Got the 3-PW on Ebay for only $70. I feel technology has not changed enough to pay the premium price for new irons.
