Wilson Ci6

Summary:
I have played one season with the Wilson Ci6 set after starting golfing again after a seven year lay off. I regained my handicap of 11.7 and in no time was down to 9.2. The ci6 are so forgiving particular with the 6 iron and upwards through to the 3 iron where shots become more difficult to hit correctly. I have also purchased the sand, gap and lob wedge which are a must to have in your bag. The latter are very difficult to get hold of but the USA stocks them at a reasonable price. The clubs are one where you have very few negative thoughts once in your hand and at address. I would certainly recommend a purchase of these clubs for the above average golfer.

Customer Service:
Wedge set purchased from USA and cannot fault any aspect of deal or description given. Wilson are a very underated company and would recommend anyone to try their iron product range of Ci6

Unfortunately none, as I have just started to play again but I can remember never having played with any irons that could match the Ci6 for my level of golf game in the past

Wilson Ci6 Irons

Summary:
These are excellent clubs. I have played just about every iron set know to mankind - and I mean that sincerely. I have played just about every Ping, Callaway, Taylor Made available. Cobra - yep. Cleveland - ditto. I'm not good enough for blades although I love the look and feel, so I gravitate to something of a cavity back but not the "super game improvement" styles. Both the Ci6 and the newer Ci7 irons are excellent in every way and are in my opinion every bit as good IF NOT BETTER than the bigger brands that cost LOTS more. Feel is excellent, control is amazing, and distance is very good. I got my Ci6 set on a close out from Edwin Watts for $199 - a STEAL !!! My buddy (who plays Raptures) tried my clubs on several shots last weekend and now he is ready to sell his set and get the Wilson's too. It's the best $199 I EVER spent on golf gear - and I have spent more than I want to think about.

Summary:
Great irons. Have been playing some Ping S57 knockoffs for the last few years and wanted something with a bit more forgiveness so I thought I would give these a shot. I couldn't be happier! First round out I shot my lowest round ever, a 77. Although the feedback isn't as pronounced as my previous set the feel when you pure them is great. Definitely can't beat the $199 I payed for them on eBay. If you shoot in the 80s and are looking to get over the hump at a reasonable price I would suggest giving the Ci6s a try.

Wilson Ci6

Summary:
Been playing the Mizuno MX-20 irons with TT Dynalite Gold stiff shafts for the past 3-4 years and decided to give the Ci6's a try based on all of the good feedback and reviews in Golf and Golf Digest. FYI, I'm 57, hit my 7-iron about 160 yds and can hit my driver about 280-285 on reasonably firm fairways.

Got the Ci6 set in the Taper Tech steel stiff shaft. Upon arrival, noticed the grips seemed very small in diameter (I have small hands and wear a Small glove size). The stock grip also seemed very slick to me - I use the GP Tour Velvet grips in the Mizuno's). Immediately had them replaced with Tour Velvet to match the Mizuno's.

Went to the range a couple of times to get the fill of this set and then played my first round with them.

My observations:

Distance - seemed comparable to the MX20's but note that the lofts on my MX20's have been adjusted to about 1/2 a club strong. For whatever reason, the Ci6 PW, 9 and 8 irons seemed to play just a little shorter than the Mizuno's as I was constantly coming up a little short on these shots.

Trajectory - the Ci6 short irons seem to go higher than the MX20's which I didn't like. The Ci6 longer irons had a little higher trajectory than the MX20's which I liked.

Feel - Ci6's had a nice feel but were no where near the feel of the forged MX20's as you might expect. The major feel difference to me was that the Ci6's felt somewhat light and were very easy to pull a shot way left on an aggressive swing. Due to the light feel, I also hit several thin shots as well.

Playability - the Ci6's look very nice at set up and have a nice feel to them. Off center hits seem to have decent forgiveness - more than the MX20's. I could never work the Ci6's - seemed to want to go dead straight even when I was trying to fade or draw a little.

Conclusion - the Ci6's are nice clubs and perhaps over time could work for me. Going from the Mizuno's to these in mid season is just to big of a change. I was looking for a little more forgiveness than the Mizuno's on days when the swing is struggling a little bit. The Ci6's did live up to this expectation but gave up too much for me in the feel and playability areas to warrant a change at this time.

For mid and high cappers the value and performance of the Ci6's make these irons worth considering. For low cappers I don't believe these irons offer any real benefits for you to consider these.

Summary:
Have played the Pi5's since Padraig's Open win last year. getting a litle older so I thought I'd try a little forgiveness in my irons. Great set- maybe the best buy out there. I picked them up brand new on e-bay for $160, stiff steel.

I'm a 4 handicap, and the first round I shot 74. Well worth the $160!

Wilson Staff is one of the most under-rated golf companies out there. They make great quality top end clubs. The Ci6's have a beautiful set up- very straight line- and very long and easy to hit....buy these.
