Adidas Tour Metal

Summary:
I would have to concur with the previous review. I bought these shoes last year. It was my first crack at Adidas. Over the past dozen years of my golf experience, I've tried Nike (crap-all of them), Reebok(not bad), Etonics(good bang for your buck), and of course Foot Joy(the best). I was prepared to drop $200 for a pair of FootJoys, but I saw the Tour Metals, and thought, heck if it's good enough for Retief, I should give it a fair shake. The fit was perfect, no breaking in period required. Great support, and traction, and reasonably light weight. What more could you ask for?!
But then on my first round this year, as I was walking down the 3rd fairway of a local muni, I felt moisture on my left foot. On the 4th Tee box, we had a bit of a wait, took off the shoe, and damn, my left toe was soaked! I was so disappointed. Anyhow, I returned them to Golftown, and Adidas was not very quick with rectifying the situation.
In short Golftown, ended up giving me full credit for the shoes. They offered me the same pair, but after my experience and seeing that they are now 1/2 the price I paid for them originally, I took the $200 and used it on some PUMA GTX. I'll give them a try this coming long weekend and post a review next week.

Customer Service:
As per my review notes above, Adidas really dropped the ball.

Adidas Tour Metal

Summary:
I am strongly (some might say blindly) brand-loyal when it comes to Adidas footwear and I'm glad they have devoted so much money and energy to their golf lines (including the apparel).

I've had over a dozen pairs of Adidas golf (various models) over the years and on balance their offerings are functional, reliable and stylish.

The one truly bad experience I had with Adidas was with the Tour Metal. The Tour Metal came with the standard 2-year waterproof warranty and unfortunately the warranty came into play very quickly. These shoes leaked water almost from the start even from light morning dew. When I bought them they were the top-of-the-line model which only added insult to injury.

Their sole design/layout was improved over past offerings which tended to trap a lot of grass/debris - the spikes, 'Z' ridges etc. are spaced out more and cleaning is not as much of a chore.

Despite this setback I have stuck with Adidas and now have the Tour 360 (reviewed elsewhere on this site) which is a huge improvement and so far lives up to the hype and the waterproof billing.

Customer Service:
In the past I have attempted to correspond with Adidas Golf and/or return items to them. Their replies are simply "deal with your local retailer" and obviously ignores the fact that many of us use mail order. They refuse UPS shipments (to the correct address) point blank and don't even open the box. I'm sure this is to protect them from liability in some way or to avoid those nasty customers who are paying the rent.

Fortunately, TGW responded to my request, accepted my return and interceded with Adidas Golf to obtain a refund of my original purchase price.
