Shoots in the 90s Model Reviewed: Dexter Softshoe Athletic II Summary: As a returning golfer after a 7 1/2 year layoff, one which saw my old shoes scattered and tattered across our rural neighborhood by my growing trio of children and the amateur kennel across the street, my swing speed quickly advanced to the need for an increased toehold on the turf. A quick trip to eBay and $30 laater, including shipping, I was trying my first pair of Dexeters.
In the past I've always shied away from Dexter shoes; they felt too stiff. My trepidation, however, quickly disappeared on the course. The Softshoes, while firm, proved far more comfortable than the initial fit would have me believe. They're advertised as waterproof; can't say I've really put that aspect to the test, although the first time out was a day after a 2 inch rain, and I had no issues with my feet getting mushy in any way.
Fit was spot on; my left takes an 11 1/2, wide, and the 11 1/2 W from Dexeter was perfect.
I'm very satisfied for the price. If I were to pay $80, I'd want something a little softer on my toes, but for the price I paid, they're an incredibly good bargain. Even at twice that price they'd be worth the investment if they have any durability at all, and judging by the fit and finish, I'll be keeping them next my golf bag for a few more years at least.
