X-Forged Gun Metal Vintage

Summary:
Review of 52.12, 56.14 MD, 60.10 MD C-grind X-forged wedges. Cudos to Roger Cleveland, these are absolutely brilliant! Hands down, these are the best retail wedges on the market today. The forged 1020 carbon steel makes these a great feeling wedge. They feel a bit more muted than a Vokey SM and are slightly softer feeling then other wedges I've played. The accuracy is incredible on each of the wedges tested.

Aggressive grinds on 56* and ultra agressive c-grind on the 60* make these wedges super versitile from a variety of lies. After adjusting the lie angles on each wedge I was hunting pins immediately. The grinds are incredible. Low punches stopped on a dime, and I found it very easy to spin back 1/2 and 3/4 shots when needed. With these wedges I was able to throw pitches directly at the flag and the ball hops and stops dead. The MD grooves on the 56 and 60 are extremely aggressive, but chew up ProV1/V1x like a kid's knee on his first bike. This is the only negative.

I liked that the 52 does not have the MD grooves, the standard SG grooves are just fine. I may back down to the SG grooves on the 56 as well to cut the spin down a tad. Otherwise these are fantastic. The shafts on the X-Forged are DG S300. The standard shaft on the X-Tours is wedge flex. I personally find the DG S300 to be far more accurate in wedges compared to wedge flex (and match an iron set much better if you play S300's or stiffer in your irons).

There are obviously other great wedges on the market, but IMHO there are no other retail wedges that have as good of a grind off the rack (Mizuno Mp-R comes very close). I've heard some comments from others who have noted that the leading edge on the X-forged are a little sharp, however, I did not experience this at all. Perfect wedges, no grinding necessary, best wedge choice i've ever made. AAA+
