Shoots in the 80s Model Reviewed: Gap Wedge (52), Sand (56), Lob (60) Summary: These wedges look absolutely gorgeous- Much better than anything else on the market these days in my opinion. Sadly, these aren't made anymore and have been replaced by the Tw7 and the current model TW9.
I initially bought the 56 degree sand iron to finish my off my set of Wilson Staff Pi5's. I thought the sand wedge performed very well - excellent feel on chips and pitches, good out of the sand and rough. I have subsequently purchased the 52 degree gap and 60 degree lob to finish the set. The gap doesn't hit as far as a Cleveland cg12 or a Titleist Vokey, but I much prefer the feel of FW6 because it is forged. My experience with forged clubs is that they can feel a little 'dead' when not hit sweet. These wedges are a little like that which funnily enough I think is a good thing because it demands focus and concentration to get that perfect strike.
Spin wise, they don't spin like a Titleist Spin Mill but I rarely spin the ball back anyway... a couple of hops then stop is fine for me.
Now the best bit... Price. Because these are no longer made, I picked the sand wedge up for £27, and the gap and lob for £39 each on ebay (left handed) which I thought was a real bargain.
Overall, a great looking forged wedge offering plenty of feel and shot feedback
