While not a classic layout, the course offers good variety, excellent condition (with challenging bent grass greens) and tremendous views of the valleys below the course. Designed in 1948, this course (like most of that era) is set up to be very walkable. Parallel fairways and gentle sloping fairways offer an excellent walking experience. The front and back nines on this course are quite different and this brings nice variety to the golfer. The front has three Par 5's - two of which are classic. #6 is the quinessential moderate-length water-carry Par 5 challenge. #8 is a moderate dog-leg left hole that requires the well-placed drive followed by the right-to-left approach to the green. Most of the front nine is fairly open (except #5) and the player can "let the shaft out" and hit driver on each hole. The back side is shorter and tighter, requiring well-placed drives. This side has one par 5 (the 17th) that requires a perfectly-placed fade off the tee to approach the green in two. The 18th is an excellent finishing hole (playing 465 from the back) with a beautiful view of the valley below as the player approaches. This course has five sets of tees (I,II,III,IV,V). The IV tees are fairly short - 6300 yards. The V tees at 6811 offer a good test of golf for the better player. The back
