Shoots in the 80s

Nice course with a pretty friendly layout. Plays shorter than its yardage. Nice views. Probably the best in Fountain Hills but no match for the best of Scottsdale.

Shoots in the 80s

A fantastic golf private golf course that allows some public play. Located out in Fountain Hills is a treat due to the fact that it is close to Scottsdale, but yet has very different terrain from the local town courses. My group had the entire course to ourselves, as member play headed out in the morning. Would put it a similar class as SunRidge across the street but very, very few houses, can take the cart on Fairway, and no slow play. The course gives you that real desert feel. Greens were quick and in good shape for the summer. No "hot spots" on the fairways what-so-ever. Plays very fair front and back with clean and level lies. Back rivals that of any Troon property in the area. A must play if you have the opportunity. Be a member for a day.

Customer Service

Customer service fantastic, with the exception of the typical spoiled brat assistant "pro" in the shop.

Shoot in the 90s

This course is probably the best I've ever played - no exaggeration.

It's a high desert course that winds through the foothills of terrain that includes tons of different varieties of cactus and shrubbery. It has spectacular views of surrounding mountain ranges. There are almost no houses near or around the course - which is a nice change of pace. You get the feeling that you are truly out in the desert.

The course opened about a year ago (Feb 2000) and it already appears very mature. The course conditions are pristine to say the least. Fairways, greens and tees are all perfect. Thre is a grass driving range and practice facility near the parking lot. There are (I believe) 5 sets of tees. I played the middle tees (being a hacker). One thing I noticed as I drove in was that the course consists of fairways only, meaning, if you go off the fairway you're pretty much screwed. While you may be able to find your ball, you probably will not be able to play it as you will be on hardpan and rocks, or in shrubs and cactus (not to mention rattlesnakes).

As I began my round, however, I found that the course, while difficult, was not unfair like some target golf coursed I have played in the past. It requires acuracy, but you are not punished if you hit a half-way decent shot, and you are certainly rewarded by a good shot. I played the course after it had rained, though, so that cut down on a lot of roll and made putting and chipping around the greens considerably easier that it probably is during the summer or dry periods.

Overall I would give this course the highest rating possible. The only drawbacks are 1) that it costs $180 - but I would say if your on vacation it's well-worth it as there are many course in teh area in teh $150 neighborhood and this one overshadows all the ones I plays (including Talking stick, whirlwind and wildfire and 2)there is some crazy broad who drives around the drink cart who says crazy sh*t to you the whole time. If they fire that broad, you can't go wrong.

The range was decent and the putting green was nice. The service was great except the cart lady and some assh*le who appeared to be the head of maintenance
