I like Troon North, but have always thought many overrate the course. First off, it is really expensive, with rates reaching to the $400 range in prime season. The holes are nice, but very few are truly distinctive or memorable. Very few make you think strategically- it's more or less driver down the middle of wide fairways on most tee shots. Pretty typical for most resorts. The condition is usually top notch (though the greens were sanded and horrible last time i played). Service is very good. They dont allow carts off the paths very often, which makes for very long rounds.
Overall it is a pleasant course to play, but IMHO is not a "golf mecca" by any sense.

Played on 7/13/08. Course was in amazing shape! Even in July, the course was green and in great playing condition. Because of work being done on the course, we played holes 2 - 10 on the Pinnacle Course and holes 1 - 9 on the Monument Course. Staff was very nice and helpful. Excellent service. Even though there are homes that line many of the fairways, you don't feel all that crowded in. To my surprise, the fairways were a little bit wider than I expected (this is my first time playing desert golf). Though we got lucky with the weather (low/mid 90's until about 11:00), it still gets plenty warm. Get out early if you can, drink plenty of water during the round and you'll be fine. Pace of play (at least for us) was fantastic. Played in less than four hours being the second group out. The greens were excellent, and the views spectacular. If you ever find your way to this part of the world, this is a MUST play course. Yes it may be a bit pricey in the late winter/early spring, but it is worth it, and during the summer, it's a plain steal. Get out here if you can. You will not be disappointed!

Fun course but deffinetly a challenge. I like to hit my driver on most holes but this course had me reaching for the chicken stick more times than not. Lost o desert. Great conditions and design.

Course is very well maintained and quite challenging. Scenery is beautiful except for the houses lining every fairway which is a major distraction. You feel like you're in a high end neighborhood not a golf couse. No walking as it's golf cart only course.

Model Reviewed: Troon North Monument

Good: 1. The condition of the course is really as good as it gets. The fairways are perfectly manicured and the greens are smooth. 2. I love the many risk reward holes on this course. The fairways are not wide, but driver can be hit on many of the short par 4s for a half wedge into the green. 3. The views are great, but would have been better without the houses. Bad: 1. Cost ($245). It should have been $200 tops given the other great courses in the area.

Customer Service

The service was excellent. As a suggestion, bring your own Gatorade as they charge $5 for a small bottle. You'll drink through $20 worth of Gatorade in one round, which would cost only $3 at a supermarket!

Simply one of the best courses I've ever played. Everything about it was perfect, the greens were in great shape, the fairways were perfect, even the tee boxes were perfect. If you ever golf in Scottsdale, you have to go to this course. It can be expensive, but in the off season the price is very reasonable.

Certainly one of the best golf courses in the south west and in my opinion one of the best I have ever played. Either of the two courses available to play, take you through challenging terrain nestled in the hills above Scottsdale, which is truly beautiful. From the magnificent and perfectly kept Tee-boxes to the narrow yet playable fairways you will find a flawless golf course which provides one with dynamic rolling greens to putt from. Through admiration of the true beauty of the of the surrounding, and the architecture of the course, one cannot go wrong by playing this course.

When you play a really good golf course you don´t care how you play. I played only first nine on monument course. The best thing about the course is the magnificent scenery, takes your breath away!! I played during summer heat, with temp. about 115!! Nevertheless the course was in great condition.

Customer Service

Excellent!! The guy in the proshop gave me a 9 hole rate, although its not the norm. professional service.

Wow! You get all you'd expect for the high green fee. Summer rates are "reasonable" at less than $100. Fairways, greens, tee boxes.... all top-notch. Pick up a copy of "Links" computer golf game and play the "Monument" course over and over again! When I first played there for real, actually recognizing holes and features added a fun twist

I seriously doubt that there is a more beautiful pair of golf courses on the earth. I played the monument course on 12/28/01 although the temp was only about 55 degrees, I never even noticed. I was stunned by the scenery. The course is not easy, but you don''t even care. The par 5 3rd hole is "Holy Grail" of all the holes that I have ever seen or played. You can actually putt your ball on these fairways, and they will roll truer than any country club''s best greeens. I don''t care that it cost 185 bucks, it was worth it friend.

Customer Service

Wonderful in every way.
