Fred Enke is pretty nice for a Muni course. The Fairways and greens are in their best shape in Spring. The course can be challenging as there are places where a good amount of desert needs to be cleared from the tee. I lost a few balls on this course.

I have played Fred Enke a number of times and never had a bad experience there. When I go back to visit Tucson, it is a course I always enjoy playing and will continue to do so.

Customer Service

Never had a problem and the rounds always seemed quick.

I'm a U of AZ student and I've played Enke many times-mainly because the course is rarely as packed as the other Tucson muni's and is also nicely priced with a walking round dancing around $20. For a desert muni course, I find Enke a wonderful experience. Most muni. courses will have problematic areas- usually irrigation issue- and Enke does too. But the greens are usually some of the best of the Tucson muni's, the surrounding area is beautiful, and almost every round I've played there has been 4 hours or less. As for the layout of the course: Enke is ruthless if your accuracy isn't where it needs to be. Often the fairway ends at the edge of desert, with no rough to stop an errant shot, meaning penalty strokes readily available on every hole. Getting in the fairway is the most important part of playing there.

Customer Service

Drink cart comes around pretty frequently, the snack shop has a typical array of stuff at relatively good prices, and the starters are very accomodating.

I thought the course was an excellent value. The tee shots require good location on several holes. Some tee shots are blind and really require playing the course more than once.

Customer Service

Customer service was very friendly and accomodating.

I play at Enke all the time, and, yes, I ran into that same racing golfer Finnian Lad did on several occasions. But the course is fair, in good shape for an overworked Muni, and requires lots of local knowledge--and good aim.

Customer Service

People are friendly and service is good. There does need to be more marshals on the course.

How should I start, this is a poorly managed course in any book. My adventure started on the back 9, where I was astounded. On the 11th hole a ragged guy, came running up to teh tee box, duffed a shot, then ran, yes ran, actually, booked for the green, scoot putted for a 9 then ran off, at full speed. A poor old guy got lost in teh course, could not speak a lick of english, then had to jump the fence. Number 16 almost saw the death of my buddy, when a kid hit into him on a short par 4. Then, ph boy, then I got hit in the nugget on 18 by a shot from 210 out. Not once were any of these events even observed. The greens and fairways are in horrible condition. and the round lasted from 1:17 - 6:25 - yes over 5 hours, not once did I see a marshal.

Tucson Muni Course. Played on July 2 in afternoon. This used to be a favorite of mine... BUT... course is in terrible shape. Greens are ok, fairways and other areas are either very dry(due to our lack of rain) or Very Very wet due to a lousy watering system.. Example is #14, real nice par 4 Target golf... Near the green is what used to be a nice grass bunker to catch short approach shots.. it is now a stagnent water hazzard!! Looks to be filled with irrigation water.

Customer Service

very good
