Not a bad golf course, nice grass, lots of space and moderate difficulty. Gorgeous scenery, too! Their food is very good and they often have breakfast and other deals that are very reasonable. Their drinks are a bit overpriced, but nothing outrageous. As far as golfing goes, no complaints there, but...

Customer Service

The staff is absolutely terrible. Landscape workers feel free to make comments on visitors and even tell them they're not following the rules! I was doing something I wasn't supposed to, and after being given a warning from a marshall I stopped doing it, but within 15 seconds was approached again by a different person, a landscape worker, who notified me of the same thing but in an extremely rude manner. I told them off and went about my business. Next thing I know, something big approaches me, touches me and nearly throws me to the ground! It was the same pissed off landscape worker trying to run me over with his Toro cart. Outrageous! After talking to the management they still hold that the employee didn't do anything wrong. I ended up having to call a police officer in order to resolve the matter!! My humble advice to you, if your health is dear to you, avoid Cherry Island!

I have always really enjoyed this course, especially the major doglegs with all the hazards.

Nice muni course. The course is set up perfectly if you're a good target golfer. Every hole is nice except for the second with a tree to the immediate left of the tee box and a hazard to the right of the fairway (it leaves a very small window to hit into when the tees are moved to the far left). The 10th hole forces you to lay-up; if you hit your ball too far to the left of the fairway, you'll end up in the hazard. So the smart play would be, if you intend to hit the driver, is to cut it. Overall, it's a pretty easy course to score on.

Great prices. Twilight is 9 dollars. That's easy pocket change right there.

I (and my golf buddy) rate this course as challenging. Water, in-course OBs, and hazards all have to be respected to score well. Condition is what you would expect from a municipal course; you can have a bad lie in the middle of the fairway. The first few times you play the course, it would help to take notes; placement of tee shots, hazard locations, etc. All in all a good test to put on your playing rotation. $35 normal green fees.

Cherry Island has a pleasant atomsphere about it. It can be un-forgiving, and forgiving. It is a competative course that just keeps you coming back. I enjoy the 1,9,10,& 18th holes; and they can be reached in 2 shots. Try it and you will like it.

Customer Service

This course has some of the worst golf holes ever designed. There are 4 holes that cross over a rippiran area (1,9,10,18) that just ruin this course. #1 is a short par 4 that is driveable by some players. This hole belongs in the middle of the round because the smart play is a mid iron off the tee.
The infamous #10 deserves all of the blame. A long par 4 around 430+/-yards that forces the player to lay up of the tee. Anything over 200 yards is in the rough; 215 is in the "nature area". So after a 4-iron off the tee, we are required to hit a long iron to a farily large green. This hole does not give the player the option to lay up or try an carry the creek/nature area.

Relatively easy, nice layout, great mature trees, okay greens, terrific price, and the best at getting you on the coarse or squeezing you in for a tee time!
