Shoots in the 90s

Disregard my previous review. I recently went to Meadow Lake and they are now under new ownership. The new ownership has sold off golf course land to developers who are now building 240 houses alongside a 30 year old golf course which was never designed for houses. They have totally ruined what was a great course.

I live in Chula Vista and make the trip to this course often. I think this is the best value in San Diego County. This year they made several design changes to the course, making the first hole a par five. The ninth hole use to be number 10, and I think it''s the most difficult par 4 (from the white tee''s) in the county (456 yard dogleg, not downhill). The two nines are no more equally played in yardage. I''ve always found the course to be in excellent condition, and the greens are medium speed and true throughout. You also get many spectacular views from many of the holes.

A very nice course. Its strength is its diversity. You''ll get to use all the clubs in your bag. It has a variety of open and target golf. Some of the fairways do pitch and roll. Nice layout, nice pace. Its weakness is its conditions. Nothing special here. Typical of most muni courses. Hard greens with inconsistent roll. Fairway conditions: grass too thin, too long. But it is a bargain for $35 with cart. You can walk this if you want a good hike. The course can be enjoyed by all handicap levels. All in all worth playing.

Customer Service

Good.

The prior review is completely misleading. There are some well planned holes, but there are also four fairways that require you to drive to a "target stick" or, in one instance, the fourth hole, a "target tower." The front nine is par 33 and the ninth hole is one hole short of the clubhouse. The 10th hole brings you to the clubhouse, and the back nine is par 38. There are many uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies.
Overall, conditions were good, and the tees were level and well laid out.
The greens were steeply sloped, and there were unpredictable undulations. The greens were made more difficult because they were also very slow.

Customer Service

Excellent staff, very courteous.

We tried to get on Torrey Pines and were shut out, of course, so came here as a last resort. I was pleasantly surprised. The layout is very good, the conditions were good too. Dollar for dollar, this course blows Torrey away. Pace of play was good too. Cant think of a thing to complain about, and I would recommend this course to any and all. ITs a bit of a drive from San Diego, but worth it.
