Incredible to rate this course as one of the top 25 in the nation. The first nice holes are just short of boring. The back nine are attractive but not at this price.

Foggy in the morning. Absolutely gorgeous views. Fairways are maintained like carpet and the greens are fast, tricky and promote plenty of 3-puts.
This will be a memorable round no matter what your handicap. The approach on the 13th hole you will never forget nor will you the tee box of the 11th.

Customer Service

Outstanding. Despite confusion regarding a tee time rescheduling, the pro shop gentlemen got us on our way promptly. There were rangers maintaining pace of play and the beverage cart girl, Kayna, made the best bloody Mary's in Santa Barbara County

I have not played this course since I was a teenager. the course was beautiful, better than what I remember. The layout had not changed, the trees were lush and healthy, the course conditions were about a 4.5 out of 5, but the green were EXTREMELY difficult. Although the ball tended to stop on the green after an approach shot, some of the greens were WAY too fast (the cart attendant mentioned some were as fast as 14 on the stimp!) and it made scoring almost impossible. A few of the greens were so fast it was almost a joke to putt (#11)... the play was wide open. Prices unfortunately do NOT reflect what this course should be charging however.

Customer Service

great, bags were handled, clubs cleaned, and service was friendly

Model Reviewed: Sandpiper Golf Course

This course has some impressive vistas as it hangs right on the ocean cliffs of Santa Barbara. The course was in excellent shape and the fairways are generally forgiving enough to make it playable. What was NOT playable were the greens. I played in late January and these greens were so slick and fast that ANY missed put had the potential to roll up to 50 feet past the hole. The 11th hole was literally impossible to play. Side-hill and downhill puts that missed the cup rolled 25 feet off the green. Uphill puts that missed the cup stopped, and then rolled backwards, again off the green. On one hole my ball sat for 2-3 minutes just above the cup and began rolling by itself down and off the green before I even addressed it, before I even came within ten feet of it! I hope this was an aberration, but after this experience, I couldn't recommend it.

Customer Service

Very friendly and attentive. They do have a walking rate, but do not offer pull-carts. Nice driving/practice range.

WOW.. The first six holes are a bear if you play from the tips. Some fairways are very tight ddue to large trees in strategic places. Very relaxing to walk due to the great ocean views. The back nine has some very tough finishing holes, and a long par five that has a green perched high above on the cliff edge. Overall, it was a tough course. Pace of play was fine, not too many people on the course this day.

Customer Service

very good, I was greeted by a bag attendant as soon as I was out of my car.

The dining facility was small and could use some upgrades to match the quality of the course. The food was good, and the staff was great.

Shoot in the 80s

This was a truly enjoyable experience. The views on this course are one of its strong points. We waited about 10 minutes to tee off and after the 2nd hole we moved fine. The round took about 4 1/2 hours. The course was in good shape and the greens were a little spotty, but overall conditions were good. It has some challenging holes on the back nine along the ocean. The par 3 11th is truly magnificent and fun to play, and the par 5 532yd. 13th runs along the ocean, and is a bear, but what a great hole to hit two monster woods on. After that your troules really start! Get out and play this course soon. It's worth the price, and I hear they are closing soon to redo the course. I don't know what the green fees will be after that. I heard to avoid the week-end. We got a weekday discount with the hotel where we were staying.

Customer Service

The guys greeted us at the car, loaded our clubs, answered our questions politely and cleaned our clubheads after. They earned the tip we gave them !

Shoot in the 100s

A nice layout that is ruined by extremely slow play and course martials who don't do anything to move slow players along. Our round took almost seven hours, and we had to quit before finishing all 18 holes because of darkness. Tee condition was average. Greens not up to expectations. Overall maintanance was OK. I did like the holes that are along the ocean. They did a good job of taking advantage of the coastline and the views.

Customer Service

They ignored my complaints about slow play (almost 7 hours to play less than 18 holes). Because play was so slow and it was getting dark, I asked if I could quit after nine holes and receive a partial refund, but they refused.
