One of my favorite courses in the area. The entire course is well layed out. The tee shots are framed well giving a good visual appearence.

This course requires all of my clubs and all of my shots. I need to lay up on some holes, and others I need to hit two huges shots to get home in two. Nearly every hole has a side that needs to be avoided. There is either OB, weeds or water on one side of nearly every hole.

The par 3s are demanding, espically #2, and the par 5s are all unique. Some are reachable and some you just dont need to take that risk.

#18 has an option off the tee. Straight to an island fairway, or right and "safe" and lenghting the hole making it a dogleg left. I usually go to the right and hit a 7 or 8 iron to the green.

Top notch. One of my favorite courses in the area, and one of the best from Sacramento to Modesto and all points east and west. Every hole is unique, challenging and very intersting. Lots of hills, wetlands, mounding and sand to deal with. Every time I have played there, the conditoins were excellent. This course is every bit as good as Whitney Oaks, Twelve Bridges, The Ridge and all the other new courses going up there east of Sacto, but it is cheaper. Only negative is that is a bit remote, out in Ione, about 45 minutes from Sacto or anything else, but worth the drive. Also, it gets a bit hot in the summer, but that is the same anywhere up in that area. Try it, you wont regret it. Check out the double fairway on the 18th.

Customer Service

Nothing remarkable either bad or good, and that is ok with me.

Grass range! Gotta love that for a mid price course

Castle Oaks is a well-designed course in a beautiful part of the state. It has some fun holes, some hard holes, and some really pretty holes. It isn't kept in the best of shape, especially the fairways, but it's in better condition than a lot of courses I've played.

Customer Service

The pro shop staff is nice and accomodating.

The range is solid (although the grass type is wierd and inconsistent), and the chipping green provides some good progress.
