Not what it is cracked up to be; sure, some beautiful scenery, but as far as a good value, no way Jose. The only time it seems to be in decent shape is the weeks before and after the Buick Open. By the time you finish your round you will be eligible for a senior citizen discount. Cost? Decent tee times are booked thru a service that adds a fee; if you go thru pro shop, can only get decent tee time if a "pro" accompanies you for first few holes (yes, a 5-some- good for slow play). Unfortunately, just having a pro in your group gives you nothing- no free golf tips here; once in a while you might get a "nice shot", or advice where not to hit your shot, but no instruction to help your game. Good "welfare" benefit if you''re a pro at the shop. Now they are re-doing the south course- expect to be charged accordingly.

Customer Service

Good- why not, they have so many employees on welfare.

Hard to get on unless you go thru a pay service. A great course (North or South) that challenges anyone who has difficulty hitting the fairway. Fast greens and great views. I think the north side is more fun but the south is tougher.

Great staff!

I have played the North Course several times as an out of towner. (Locals get an incredible discount, everyone else gets raked) Never have been able to get on the South Course due to crowds. South is where everyone wants on because the finals of the Buick tournament are played there, but North is just as good, I have heard. Good views of the Pacific, some interesting holes, but to tell the truth, the conditioning during "non-Buick" weeks is poor. I thought it was like any muni course, but with big views. I wouldnt go out of my way to play it again necessarily, especially with all the new courses going up in the area. Truth be told, I prefer Coronado, which is a dirt cheap course by the military base on Coronado Island. Also good views, good design, and a muni price to go with the muni track, unlike Torrey.

Customer Service

So much play, the pro shop just rings 'em up and ships 'em out. If you dont have a tee time, even as a single you could wait 4-5 hours for a slot.

Worth playing at least once, but if you are visiting, check out Mt. Woodson, Coronado, other courses too.

What can I say? This is where the Buick Invitational is played. This course is great (if you can manage to get on)! This couse (especially the South) will challenge even the best players. When the wind blows, good luck getting to the green in regulation. The fairways are wide and the rough is thick. The greens are small and very challenging. For a municipal course, you can't get any better than this. If you're in San Diego, this is a must play course!
